Disadvantages of Mobile Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

The disadvantages of mobile container houses mainly include insufficient thermal insulation performance, poor sound insulation, and fire safety hazards.

Thermal Insulation Issues

The thermal insulation performance of mobile container houses is significantly affected by the materials used. Due to cost constraints, low-end products often use materials that perform poorly in thermal insulation, making it difficult to meet usage requirements in different environments. To achieve better thermal insulation, it is necessary to choose products from manufacturers with quality guarantees, but these products are usually about twice as expensive as low-end ones. In regions with harsh climatic conditions, such as cold winters or hot summers, insufficient thermal insulation can make it difficult to regulate indoor temperatures, increase energy consumption, and affect living comfort.

Sound Insulation Issues

The sound insulation performance of mobile container houses may be poor. This is because their main structures are often made of metal materials, which have relatively good sound transmission properties. During occupancy, external noise can easily enter the interior, and interior sounds can also easily escape, potentially interfering with the occupants' lives and work. For example, in noisy industrial areas or busy traffic sections, external machine roars and vehicle noises can severely affect the quiet environment inside. To reduce noise interference, additional sound insulation treatments, such as adding sound insulation materials, may be required, which undoubtedly increases usage costs.

Fire Safety Hazards

  • Illegal Building Materials: Some temporary houses on construction sites and illegal buildings of enterprises often use flammable materials such as polystyrene and polyurethane foam for core materials to save costs. These materials have poor fire resistance and safety, and can be ignited by electrical welding sparks or cigarette butts, significantly increasing the risk of fire.
  • Rapid Combustion: Once flammable core materials catch fire, they burn extremely fast. At 80℃, they will melt, deform, and drip, with the drippings causing more severe combustion and leading to rapid fire spread.
  • Difficult Fire Extinguishment: After a fire breaks out, it spreads rapidly, and container houses are prone to collapse in a short time. After collapse, the containers are wrapped in iron sheets, making it difficult for firefighters to shoot water inside with hoses, greatly increasing the difficulty of firefighting and rescue work.
  • Difficult Escape for Trapped Persons: Polystyrene and polyurethane produce thick black smoke when burning, and the interior of the room will accumulate a large amount of toxic smoke, making it difficult for trapped persons to escape and prone to casualties.
