Dimensions of Prefabricated House Slabs
The common dimensions of prefabricated house slabs include three main parameters: span, width, and thickness, as detailed below:

Span is the maximum length of the slab perpendicular to the support direction, directly affecting its load-bearing capacity. For residential prefabricated slabs, the maximum span is 4.2 meters, which can be purchased directly without customization; spans exceeding 4.2 meters require custom production from the manufacturer. The standard span range is 3 meters to 4.2 meters, increasing in 300-millimeter increments, with common specifications including 3000mm, 3300mm, 3600mm, 3900mm, and 4200mm. This design meets the span requirements of conventional residences while facilitating modular construction and reducing material waste.
Width is the dimension of the slab parallel to the support direction, primarily influencing the overall stability of the floor slab. In residential buildings, widths of 500 millimeters and 600 millimeters are the most common, although other sizes may be used in special projects, requiring prior confirmation with the manufacturer. Width selection should consider the structural load requirements; for example, in areas with heavy loads (such as living rooms and kitchens), a 600mm-wide slab may be preferred to enhance load-bearing capacity, while in areas with lighter loads (such as bedrooms and balconies), a 500mm-wide slab may suffice.
Thickness is the vertical dimension of the slab, directly related to its structural strength and the need for pipeline embedding. Common thicknesses are 120 millimeters and 150 millimeters, with 120mm being the standard configuration suitable for floor slabs and roof slabs in ordinary residences. If pipelines such as water pipes or electrical wires need to be embedded within the slab, a minimum thickness of 150mm is required to ensure sufficient concrete cover after installation, preventing structural weakness or safety hazards due to exposed pipelines. Additionally, thickness selection should consider building height restrictions, opting for thinner slabs whenever possible to optimize space utilization while meeting load-bearing and pipeline requirements.
The selection of slab dimensions should consider factors such as building function, load requirements, and construction conditions. It is recommended to consult with a structural engineer during the design phase to determine the optimal specifications based on specific needs.
