Demountable Container House Diagram

Admin September 16, 2026

Demountable container houses are usually transformed from standard containers, retaining the container's exterior features while being decorated internally according to needs. They can be combined through splicing to form buildings with different functions, featuring modularity, mobility, and environmental friendliness.

Appearance and Structure

Demountable container houses are based on standard containers, with common specifications of 20 feet (length: 6.058 meters, width: 2.438 meters, height: 2.591 meters) and 40 feet (length: 12.192 meters, width: 2.438 meters, height: 2.591 meters), with load-bearing capacities of up to 25 tons and 45 tons respectively. The exterior retains the corrugated metal walls and frame structure of the container, but the positions of doors and windows are modified through cutting and welding, such as adding a door in the middle and connecting it to a patio, or increasing large windows to introduce natural light. The roof may be transformed into an openable type through lifting rods to enhance ventilation and lighting effects.

Interior Decoration

The interior space is finely decorated according to its purpose:

  • Living Function: Walls and floors are made of fire-resistant and moisture-proof materials (such as black special fire-resistant boards). Beds are designed to be foldable to save space, and cabinets and storage racks make full use of vertical space. For example, a 15-square-meter container home achieves efficient storage through custom-made foldable beds, double-door cabinets, and open shelves.
  • Living Facilities: Equipped with water and electricity systems, toilets, kitchens, and other basic facilities, some high-end models also integrate solar panels, air conditioners, and other equipment. For example, a container home in the forest solves electricity problems through solar panels on the roof and installs a stove for heating in winter.
  • Style Design: The interior decoration styles are diverse, such as natural wood minimalist style, industrial style, or modern minimalist style, creating a comfortable environment through material and color matching.

Modularity and Combination Methods

The core advantage of container houses lies in their modular design:

  • Single-Container Application: A single container can be independently used as an office, temporary housing, or a small shop.
  • Multi-Container Splicing: Through horizontal or vertical splicing, they can be combined into large buildings such as hotels, schools, and hospitals. For example, a container cabin in Cornwall, UK, is transformed from a single container, while a container hotel in the Czech Republic is stacked from three containers (two 20-foot and one 40-foot) to form a two-story structure.
  • Space Expansion: Some designs increase usable area through expandable structures (such as foldable walls) or extend functions through external spaces such as patios and courtyards.

Environmental Friendliness and Economy

Container houses are made of recycled steel, reducing construction waste; modular design shortens the construction period and reduces labor costs; mobility makes them suitable for temporary buildings or scenarios requiring frequent relocation. Prices vary depending on configuration and scale, ranging from several hundred yuan per square meter (simple construction site housing) to tens of thousands of yuan (high-end custom homes), with overall costs usually lower than those of traditional buildings.
