Dalian Container Mobile House
The Dalian container mobile house is a movable building unit based on standard containers, designed and transformed to combine the advantages of industrial production with adaptability to specific scenarios.

Production Mode and Structural Characteristics
Container mobile houses adopt a prefabricated production mode, where the main structure is processed and partially decorated in the factory, transforming traditional on-site operations into centralized industrial production. Its core structure is based on retired shipping containers, which are transformed through screening, reinforcement, surface treatment, and opening cutting. Compared to movable panel houses, it features a thicker steel plate box structure, providing higher structural strength to withstand occasional strong winds in the Dalian area. However, its self-weight is relatively large, imposing higher requirements on transportation and site foundations. Standard container sizes (such as 20 feet and 40 feet) limit internal clear height and width, with load-bearing relying on the four corner posts. During transformation, attention should be paid to the constraints imposed by the top and bottom beam structures on window and door openings.
Internal Environment and Functional Positioning
To address the heat conduction issue of metal structures, rock wool, polyurethane, and other insulation layers are installed internally to ensure thermal insulation and airtightness. Modular combinations (horizontal or vertical splicing) break through spatial limitations, forming continuous usable spaces. Its functional positioning lies between professional residential buildings and temporary shelters, providing a durable and well-equipped space solution. It is commonly used in scenarios such as construction site command centers, tourist attraction supporting facilities, and temporary workstations.
Environmental Protection and Transformation Technical Points
Using retired containers extends the lifecycle of industrial products and reduces energy consumption from steel recycling and smelting. However, resources must be invested in testing, repair, and transformation to ensure safety. Transformation techniques include:
- Connection and Combination: Rely on high-strength splicing or stacking of corner fittings, calculating load-bearing limits and reserving passageways;
- Enclosure System Reconstruction: Install internal keels filled with thermal insulation and soundproofing materials, with roof treatment兼顾 (taking into account) drainage and space utilization;
- Pipeline System Implantation: Plan strong and weak electricity, water supply and drainage paths, and ensure waterproof and rust-proof treatment;
- Space Efficiency Optimization: Adopt customized furniture, vertical storage, and large-area lighting design to improve utilization;
- Protective Treatment: After rust removal, steel structures are sprayed with epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat, with internal and external finishes addressing the humidity and salt spray corrosion of marine climates.
This building form balances efficiency, functionality, and environmental protection needs through industrial production and modular design, becoming a flexible space solution for specific scenarios in the Dalian area.
