Dalian Container Mobile House
The Dalian container mobile house is a movable building unit designed and transformed based on standard containers. It features industrial production, high strength, and modular combination, making it suitable for various temporary or semi-permanent scenarios.

Production Mode and Physical Characteristics
The Dalian container mobile house adopts a prefabricated production mode, with the main structure processed and partially interior-decorated in the factory, including the screening, reinforcement, surface treatment, and opening cutting of retired shipping containers. This industrial production method improves construction efficiency and reduces the complexity of on-site operations. Compared to portable panel houses, its physical characteristics offer significant advantages: portable panel houses are assembled on-site with light steel frames and sandwich panels, making them lightweight and easy to disassemble and assemble. However, their structural rigidity and durability are based on temporary standards. In contrast, container houses are built on thick steel plate boxes, providing higher structural strength and integrity. They can withstand occasional strong winds in the Dalian area but are heavier, imposing higher requirements on transportation and site foundations.
Interior Environment and Functional Positioning
To address the heat conduction issue of the metal container body, insulation layers such as rock wool and polyurethane are typically installed inside, with construction carried out in a controlled factory environment to ensure the integrity and sealing of the insulation layers. Spatial limitations are overcome through modular combination: a single container serves as a standard unit that can be horizontally or vertically spliced to form larger spaces, with the connecting walls removed to achieve interconnection. Its functional positioning lies between specialized residential buildings and temporary shelters, providing a spatial solution with certain durability and living facilities. It is commonly used in scenarios such as construction site command centers, seasonal housing in tourist attractions, or temporary workstations in specific industries.
Environmental Dimension and Economy
Using retired shipping containers as the main body extends the lifecycle of industrial products and reduces the energy consumption of steel recycling and the demand for new steel production. However, old containers require thorough inspection, repair, and adaptive modification to ensure safety and performance meet building standards, a process that still requires the investment of resources and energy. Overall, its environmental benefits lie in resource recycling, but it is necessary to balance energy consumption and material consumption during the modification process.
