Containers and Houses

Admin September 10, 2026

A container house uses shipping containers as basic structural modules that are converted into livable or office buildings. It is eco-friendly, flexible, and low-cost, with wide applications and diverse construction methods.

Application Scenarios

  • Temporary housing: Common on construction sites as worker dormitories for short-term stays; in post-disaster emergency buildings, rapid deployment provides temporary shelter for affected people. For example, the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games in Japan used container houses to form the Athletes' Village, effectively lowering event costs.
  • Creative spaces: Can create distinctive guesthouse scenic areas—for example, in 2026 Shanting District, Zaozhuang, Shandong, China built a specialty guesthouse scenic area with container houses, offering unique lodging for visitors; in retail, brands have also converted them into 24-hour self-service fitness pods and other innovative uses.
  • Emergency medical facilities: In emergencies, container houses can be quickly set up as medical facilities, providing space for treatment and playing an important role.

Construction Methods

  • Staggered placement with welded reinforcement: Several containers are staggered and firmly fixed to the foundation, then welded for reinforcement; doors and windows are modified, partitions added, and utilities installed. Once the interior is finished, the formerly cold container becomes a simple yet impressive ideal home.
  • Building a two-story villa: A frame is welded from galvanized square steel tube, then wall surfaces are enclosed with insulated composite panels—lightweight, strong, and well insulated. Furniture inside is made detachable and modular; lifting rings are welded at the four corners of the box for easy relocation.
  • Free splicing of custom modules: Like LEGO, modules can be freely joined into custom living units and flexibly combined. Interiors can use smart control systems so lights, temperature, curtains, and other devices are easily controlled by phone voice, plus high-efficiency insulation and energy-saving materials keep the home comfortable while cutting energy use.
