Container-style Sunroom Roof

Admin September 17, 2026

The common types and installation points of container-style sunroom roofs are as follows:

Common Roof Types

  • Light Steel Roof: For example, the 33-room, 2-living-room light steel roof equipped with the 799 inhabitable movable quick-assembly container offers numerous advantages. The light steel material itself has high strength, enabling it to withstand a certain degree of external impact and ensuring the stability of the roof structure. Meanwhile, the light steel roof is relatively lightweight, which does not impose an excessive burden on the overall structure of the container, facilitating the movement and installation of the container. Moreover, the light steel roof performs well in terms of waterproofing. When combined with appropriate waterproof materials and construction techniques, it can effectively prevent rainwater leakage, providing a dry environment inside the container. Additionally, some light steel roofs can be integrated with solar systems to achieve the function of a waterproof solar-powered mobile house, meeting energy needs while embodying environmental protection concepts.
  • Frame-style Roof: Taking the case of a couple who have renovated a container for over a decade as an example, they first installed baffles to conveniently secure the acorns, cut right-angle steel into sections and welded them onto the top of the iron container, and then fixed the acorns onto the corner brackets to complete the roof frame. The advantage of this frame-style roof lies in its high flexibility, allowing for personalized construction and adjustment according to actual needs and designs. The installation of baffles at the eaves can prevent rainwater from flowing backward, protecting the interior of the container from rainwater erosion. At the same time, the frame structure provides a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of roof covering materials, whether metal sheets, wooden boards, or other materials, can be well fixed to the frame.

Installation Points

  • Frame Construction: Whether it is a light steel roof or a frame-style roof, frame construction is a crucial step. Ensure that the dimensions of the frame are accurate and match those of the container to guarantee the stability and tightness of the roof. When welding components such as right-angle steel, pay attention to the welding quality to ensure that the welds are firm and avoid problems such as false welding and missed welding that could affect the strength of the frame.
  • Waterproofing Treatment: Waterproofing of the roof is of utmost importance. Before installing the roof covering materials, carry out waterproofing treatment on the frame, such as applying waterproof coatings or laying waterproof membranes. Pay special attention to areas prone to leakage, such as the eaves and the connections between the roof and the container, to ensure effective waterproofing.
  • Subsequent Expansion: If, as in the case mentioned, you plan to add a patio on the other side of the container and complete the installation of the relevant roof frame, plan the overall structure in advance to ensure that the newly installed roof is firmly connected to the existing roof and the main body of the container, preventing problems such as looseness and deformation.
