Container House Roof Sealing
The selection of appropriate sealants for container house roof sealing should be based on the roof material and usage scenarios, and the construction process should be standardized to ensure waterproof sealing effects.

1. Selection of Sealant Types
Neutral Silicone Structural Sealant
Suitable for scenarios such as roof-to-sidewall joints and metal panel splicing, it features strong adhesion, weather resistance, and UV resistance. For example, 995 neutral silicone structural sealant can be used for sealing joints on color-coated steel roofs. It has a temperature resistance range from -40℃ to 80℃, dries quickly, and does not sag, making it suitable for vertical or inverted construction.Neoprene-Based Sealant
For addressing weld seam water leakage issues, neoprene sealant (such as Jitai 123) can tightly bond with metals (iron, aluminum, galvanized steel) without the need for a primer, and it remains intact during thermal expansion and contraction. Its matte gray adhesive body matches the industrial style of container houses and is suitable for repairing rough surfaces such as truck side panels and color-coated steel joints.Butyl Waterproof Tape
Suitable for repairing cracks on flat surfaces such as concrete roofs and color-coated steel. Before construction, the base surface should be cleaned to be dust-free and dry, and then a special primer should be applied before adhering the tape. The automatic adsorption and penetration of butyl adhesive ensure long-term waterproofing.
2. Key Construction Steps
Base Surface Preparation
- Metal roofs: Remove welding slag and oil stains, and use a wire brush to polish until the metal luster is exposed.
- Concrete roofs: Use a high-pressure water jet or wire brush to clean, ensuring no floating dust or cracks, and apply a primer after drying.
- Color-coated steel roofs: Simply wash with water and dry in the sun without additional treatment.
Sealant Application Process
- Structural sealant construction: Use a caulking gun to evenly extrude the sealant along the gap, smooth it out, and let it stand for 10 minutes. A water pouring test can confirm non-leakage as qualified.
- Tape adhesion: Start from one end of the crack, peel off the protective film while pressing firmly, and ensure the overlap exceeds the crack edge by more than 5cm.
Environmental Control
The recommended construction temperature is between 5℃ and 35℃, avoiding rainy or high-humidity environments. If operating in low-temperature environments, choose cold-resistant adhesives (such as neoprene that remains elastic at -20℃).
3. Precautions
- Compatibility Testing: Before applying a new adhesive to contact with existing sealing materials, test it on a small area and observe for 24 hours without any reactions before large-scale application.
- Regular Inspections: Container roofs are prone to deformation due to frequent lifting, so it is recommended to inspect the sealant status every six months and repair any cracks or detachments promptly.
- Safety Precautions: Wear safety harnesses for high-altitude work, as adhesive fumes may irritate the respiratory tract, so ensure ventilation during construction.
