Container Renovation House Technology

Admin September 15, 2026

Container renovation house technology mainly includes structural design, modular production, anti-corrosion and load-bearing optimization, thermal insulation treatment, on-site installation and commissioning, and other aspects.

  1. Structural Design: Container renovation houses need to be redesigned from the perspective of structural mechanics to ensure they have residential functions and can be repeatedly disassembled and assembled. The traditional container's bottom frame has large longitudinal beam spacing. Directly using it as a living space would result in insufficient floor stiffness. It is necessary to optimize the load-bearing structure by adding C-shaped steel purlins, etc., so that the container can remain stable even when stacked in multiple layers.

  2. Modular Production: The renovation process mostly adopts a modular production mode. Most processes, such as the main structure, water and electricity pipelines, bathroom waterproofing, bathroom equipment, cabinets, and wardrobes, are completed in the factory and then transported to the project site for assembly. This mode is similar to assembly-line operations, where multiple processes can be carried out simultaneously, greatly improving production efficiency.

  3. Anti-corrosion and Load-bearing Optimization: To address the issue of easy corrosion of container steel, the container surface needs to be shot-blasted for rust removal and then sprayed with protective paint, such as zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat, to extend the service life of the steel. At the same time, structural optimization is carried out to ensure the container's load-bearing capacity in complex environments, such as adopting a full-steel structure frame or a semi-welded and semi-bolted connection structure to improve wind and earthquake resistance.

  4. Thermal Insulation Treatment: The metal walls of containers are prone to the cold-bridge effect. A broken-bridge lining structure needs to be adopted, that is, filling rigid polyurethane foam between the steel frame and the interior wall panels and adding rubber thermal insulation pads at the keel connections to reduce the heat exchange efficiency between the inside and outside of the container and improve thermal insulation performance.

  5. On-site Installation and Commissioning: During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the bottom beam of the container house is in even contact with the foundation pads to avoid uneven floor loading caused by local suspension. After hoisting into place, the container's levelness needs to be checked, and the error should be controlled within 2 millimeters per meter. In addition, facilities such as water and electricity pipelines and solar panels need to be configured according to the usage scenario to complete the final commissioning.
