Does a Container-Renovated House Provide Insulation?

Admin September 16, 2026

Container-renovated houses can achieve insulation effects through various methods.

Firstly, the choice of insulation materials is crucial. Common insulation materials include rock wool boards, polyurethane boards, and EPS (expanded polystyrene) boards. These materials offer excellent insulation properties, effectively preventing heat loss. For example, a combination of 0.8-millimeter-thick corrugated steel plates and 100-millimeter rock wool sandwich panels can meet basic insulation requirements in environments as cold as -30 degrees Celsius. In northern regions, high-density insulation materials can also be used to fill walls, roofs, and floors, further enhancing insulation performance.

Secondly, structural design is also a key factor affecting insulation performance. Container houses typically adopt a three-layer construction: the outer layer is made of anti-corrosion color-coated steel plates or galvanized sheets, the middle layer is filled with insulation materials, and the inner layer uses fire-resistant gypsum boards, PVC-coated steel plates, or moisture-proof films. This design effectively blocks heat conduction and reduces heat loss. Additionally, designing insulation structures at connection points and corners, as well as filling gaps around doors and windows, can also effectively reduce indoor temperature loss.

Furthermore, airtightness has a direct impact on insulation effectiveness. Ensuring that windows and doors are well-sealed can effectively prevent cold air from entering the interior. Some companies also add an elevated layer at the bottom of the container to block ground cold bridge conduction, further improving insulation performance.

Lastly, the application of auxiliary facilities can also enhance insulation effects. For example, equipping the house with electric heaters, air conditioners, and other heating facilities can raise indoor temperatures in cold weather. Meanwhile, using thermal-break insulation doors and windows, increasing moisture-proof treatments, and other measures can further enhance living comfort.
