Container Renovated House by Eric

Admin September 17, 2026

Eric (or "Eric's") and his wife transformed two fifteen-year-old containers into a four-bedroom, two-living-room house, involving several key steps in the renovation process.

1. Foundation Construction
The first step in the renovation was to build a sturdy foundation. They used wooden planks to outline the house's boundaries, determine the specific locations of the foundation pillars, and excavate the foundation pits. Subsequently, they poured reinforced concrete into the pits to create the pillars, ensuring the foundation's stability and load-bearing capacity. This step provided a solid base for the subsequent installation of the containers, preventing settlement or tilting issues due to an unstable foundation.

2. Energy Supply
To address the house's electricity needs, they installed ten solar panels on the farm. Solar energy, as a clean and renewable resource, is not only environmentally friendly but also effectively reduces long-term electricity costs. By strategically placing the solar panels, they ensured that the house received ample power supply during the day to meet daily electricity demands.

3. Container Treatment and Installation
Before installing the containers, they needed to remove rust to prevent further corrosion of the metal structure, which could affect the house's lifespan. After rust removal, they used a crane to transfer the containers onto the pre-poured foundation pillars. To increase the usable area of the house, they also cut the iron sheets between the container bottom slots, making the connection between containers tighter and expanding the indoor space.

4. Space Planning and Interior Decoration
Transforming two containers into a four-bedroom, two-living-room house required careful planning of the interior space. Through clever design, they divided the containers into different functional areas, such as bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. For interior decoration, they used eco-friendly materials for wall and floor treatments and installed doors, windows, lighting, and ventilation systems to ensure the house's comfort and practicality.
