Container Prefab House Leakage

Admin September 15, 2026

Leakage in container prefab houses can be caused by various factors. Here are some common causes and corresponding solutions:

Common Causes

  1. Fastener Issues: During installation and use, stepping on the roof can loosen fasteners, or aging of the fastener waterproof gaskets can lead to leakage.
  2. Waterproof Materials and Treatment: If the waterproof materials selected during construction are unqualified or the waterproof treatment is unreasonable, leakage is likely to occur as the house ages.
  3. Openings and Cracks: When openings are made on the house panels for installing fans, exhaust pipes, etc., if the waterproof treatment around the cracks is inadequate, combined with external factors such as wind loads, snow loads, and thermal expansion and contraction, the house panels may deform, the cracks at the joints may expand, and the original waterproof treatment may be damaged.
  4. Gutter Problems: For movable houses, if the gutters have no horizontal slope and the outlet design is unreasonable, water will accumulate in the gutters and cannot be drained during heavy rain. If the gutter anti-corrosion treatment during construction is insufficient, leading to rust and erosion, or if debris blocks the outlet, leakage or backflow may also occur.
  5. Workmanship Issues: For example, the structural adhesive at the seams of the iron sheet layer on the roof is not applied properly, or the moisture-proof film is not adhered well and is not sealed.

Solutions

  1. Regularly Inspect Fasteners: Regularly inspect and tighten the roof fasteners, and promptly replace aging waterproof gaskets.
  2. Select Qualified Materials: Use qualified waterproof materials during construction and carry out waterproof treatment strictly in accordance with specifications.
  3. Strengthen Opening Treatment: Perform proper waterproof treatment at the openings and select high-quality sealing materials. For parts that may deform due to external forces, take reinforcement measures in advance.
  4. Optimize Gutter Design: Reasonably design the slope of the gutters and the outlets to ensure smooth drainage. Strengthen the anti-corrosion treatment of the gutters and regularly clean debris from the outlets.
  5. Pay Attention to Workmanship Details: During construction, pay attention to detail handling to ensure the quality of the use of sealing materials such as structural adhesive and moisture-proof film.
