Container Photovoltaic House

Admin September 15, 2026

A container photovoltaic house is a green building form that combines a solar photovoltaic power generation system with container architecture to achieve energy self-sufficiency.

Structural Features

Container photovoltaic houses use containers as the basic structural units, adopting factory-prefabricated assembled box houses. The main frame is usually welded from hot-dip galvanized square steel, with commonly used specifications including galvanized square tubes of sizes such as 100×100mm and 80×80mm. The wall panels are made of insulated materials such as aluminum-zinc color-coated steel plates combined with rock wool, glass wool, or polyurethane. Some solutions directly embed customized crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules into the roof and exterior walls of the container, integrating the building envelope and power generation structure into one, rather than simply attaching solar panels externally.

Energy System

  • Photovoltaic Power Generation: By installing photovoltaic panels on the roof and exterior walls, solar energy is converted into electricity to meet basic power needs such as lighting and household appliances. For example, the "Habitat 3.0" project at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology uses cadmium telluride module photovoltaic panels, which have strong power generation capabilities and are suitable for buildings with high aesthetic requirements.
  • Energy Storage System: Equipped with large-capacity energy storage battery packs, such as lithium iron phosphate batteries, to achieve off-peak energy utilization. Excess electricity is stored in the batteries, ensuring a continuous power supply during rainy days or at night through the energy storage batteries.
  • Intelligent Control: Some projects adopt intelligent management systems, such as the "Zhouyi Energy Cloud" platform by Gotech Electronics, which integrates photovoltaic, energy storage, charging pile, and load data. Through AI real-time scheduling, it achieves integrated collaborative control of source-grid-load-storage, optimizing energy use efficiency.

Application Scenarios

Container photovoltaic houses are suitable for various scenarios, including emergency power supply, field operations, distributed energy supplementation, and areas without grid coverage or with fragile grids. For example, the Huijue folding photovoltaic container adopts a modular folding structure, supporting rapid deployment. It is suitable for the windy and diverse terrain characteristics of the United States, ensuring stability in extreme weather through ground anchor fixing solutions and wind resistance tests.

Advantages

  • Green and Environmentally Friendly: Reduces reliance on traditional energy sources and lowers carbon emissions.
  • High Flexibility: Modular design supports free combination and stacking, adapting to different spatial requirements.
  • Rapid Deployment: Eliminates the need for large-scale civil engineering projects, shortening construction periods and reducing labor costs.
