Trend of Container Mobile Houses
Container mobile houses are rapidly developing in the directions of refinement, low-carbonization, compliance, scenario-based application, and intelligence.

I. Low-carbon Circulation throughout the Entire Life Cycle The market share of traditional one-time-use low-end container houses continues to shrink, while the popularity of compliant products that support multiple disassembly and reuse is gradually increasing. Under conditions of standardized use and regular maintenance, the average number of disassembly and reuse times for leading compliant products can reach more than 8 times. Compared with traditional fixed temporary buildings, the amount of construction waste generated can be reduced by about 90%, and resource utilization is higher, aligning with domestic policies on circular economy and green construction.
II. Expanded Cross-scenario Versatility Early container houses were mostly limited to single engineering scenarios. Nowadays, high-quality modular products rely on modular assembly, personalized exterior customization, and internal functional modifications to adapt to diverse scenarios such as engineering camps, mobile commerce, cultural and tourism accommodation, and emergency support. For example, expandable office houses add lateral or end expansion modules on the basis of containers, increasing the usable area by 30%-50% when expanded, suitable for long-term on-site office work with high space comfort requirements; customized creative office houses incorporate elements such as glass curtain walls, wood-grain finishes, and irregular structures for use in brand displays, cultural and creative parks, and high-end temporary offices.
III. Intelligent and Integrated Development With technological advancements, the integration of integrated bathroom systems and intelligent control modules inside container mobile houses enables individual buildings to operate independently. For example, installing photovoltaic panels on the roof of the container can achieve partial self-sufficiency in energy.
IV. Growth in Export Markets In the first half of 2026, China's total export value of prefabricated buildings under HS code 9406 was $2.79 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45%. Steel-structured modular houses were the main export category, and overseas market demand continued to grow rapidly.
