MIG Welding for Container Mobile Houses
Admin September 17, 2026
MIG welding for container mobile houses is a welding process that uses CO₂ gas as a shielding gas. It is widely applied in the manufacturing, repair, and renovation of containers, offering advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, and stable quality.

I. Working Principle and Core Advantages
MIG welding isolates air with CO₂ gas to prevent the oxidation or nitridation of molten metal, ensuring the quality of the weld. Its core advantages include:
- High Efficiency and Low Cost: Fast welding speed, suitable for mass production; CO₂ gas and welding wire are inexpensive, resulting in significantly lower overall costs compared to other processes.
- Reliable Quality: The welds have a beautiful appearance, high strength, and excellent crack resistance, making them particularly suitable for materials such as carbon steel and low-alloy steel.
- Strong Adaptability: The equipment is lightweight, and the welding torch can be moved flexibly, supporting automatic welding and all-position welding, with high operational efficiency.
II. Typical Application Scenarios
- Container Manufacturing: Welding the main structures such as frames, side panels, and roof panels to ensure the sealing and load-bearing capacity of the containers.
- Repair and Renovation: Repairing damaged areas such as cracks and rust, or welding additional structural components (such as doors, windows, and partitions) during renovation.
III. Working Environment Requirements
- Indoor Operations Preferred: CO₂ gas has poor wind resistance, so wind barriers need to be set up outdoors, and the workshop should have good ventilation with controllable wind speed.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Thoroughly clean oil stains and rust from the workpiece surface before welding; regularly inspect the welding torch nozzle, contact tip, and hose to prevent obstruction of gas flow.
- Safety Protection: Operators should wear protective face shields, dust masks, insulating gloves, and protective clothing; the workshop should be equipped with a ventilation system to avoid the accumulation of harmful gases.
IV. Operational Precautions
- Parameter Control: The CO₂ gas flow rate should be maintained at 15-20 L/min, and the current and voltage should be adjusted according to the diameter of the welding wire and the thickness of the plate.
- Pre-welding Preparation: Clean impurities from the workpiece surface and ensure the welding area is dry to avoid defects such as porosity and slag inclusion.
- Safety Regulations: Keep away from flammable materials during welding to prevent sparks from causing fires; regularly check the airtightness of the equipment and the stability of the power supply to eliminate safety hazards.
This process has become a mainstream welding solution in the container industry through its scientific gas protection mechanism and flexible operational characteristics. However, strict adherence to parameter settings and safety regulations is essential to ensure quality and personnel safety.
