Container Living House Images

Currently, we cannot directly provide images of container living houses, but we can describe their typical features and scenarios based on publicly available information.

Nagoya Asian Games Container Houses: Combining Temporariness and Functionality

To reduce costs, the Nagoya Asian Games did not build a traditional athletes' village but instead used container houses as accommodation for some athletes and officials. These container houses were mainly distributed in the Nagoya port area, with about 200 neatly arranged, expected to accommodate approximately 2,000 people. Designed with a standard monolithic length of 12 meters and width of 2.4 meters, they were transformed into accommodation units inside, each divided into two households, with three people per household, equipped with basic facilities such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines. However, there were limitations in the actual experience: for example, in the container occupied by basketball players, the single bed measured 195 centimeters in length and 90 centimeters in width, which was cramped for athletes nearly two meters tall; the room height was low, with three people sharing one set of bathroom facilities, and the thermal insulation was insufficient, requiring ventilation by opening doors. Additionally, container houses posed safety risks in extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, having once led to the emergency evacuation of some athletes due to intense rainfall.

Civilian-Modified Container Houses: Diversity and Personalization Coexist

In addition to temporary event uses, container houses have been modified to serve diverse functions in the civilian sector. For example:

  • The "Prairie Cottage" case in the United States: Based on a 16.6-square-meter discarded container, it was transformed into a fully furnished residential unit for two people by installing cedar panel anti-corrosion wood finishes inside and out. The interior layout was compact, including a custom sofa, a wall bed, a kitchen, an office area, and a bathroom, with an observation deck. Comfort was enhanced through thermal insulation materials and tempered glass doors.
  • A 30-square-meter container modified by a couple: Through six years of modification, two discarded containers were combined into a fully functional residence, including a hydraulic deck patio, foldable furniture, a kitchen, and a bathroom, capable of accommodating up to seven people. The design focused on space utilization, such as furniture that could be stored in the walls and a hydraulic system that, when extended, created an indoor-outdoor connected activity area.

Commercial-Use Container Houses: Highlighting Modularity and Convenience

Container houses circulating in the market are mostly used for construction site dormitories, mobile offices, or temporary commercial venues, emphasizing modularity and rapid deployment. For example, products on the 1688 platform show that container houses can be configured with color steel plates, steel structures, or folding designs, with prices ranging from 58 yuan to tens of thousands of yuan per square meter, supporting 24-hour delivery and a 7-day exchange service. Such houses typically have basic living functions, but comfort and aesthetics vary depending on the configuration.
