Container House with Toilet

Admin September 15, 2026

It is feasible to have a container house with a toilet, and there are already practical application cases. The following is an introduction from the aspects of design, application scenarios, advantages and disadvantages, etc.

Design

The design of container houses with toilets is relatively flexible and can be customized according to different needs. Some container houses consist of two households per unit. Each household is planned as a two-bedroom and one-living-room space, providing accommodation for three people. The entire house is decorated with wood, and it has a toilet, a bathroom, and a dressing room. The small space in the living room is also equipped with a refrigerator, a sink, and a washing machine. However, there is only one air conditioner in the two-bedroom and one-living-room unit. There are also some specially customized container houses with toilets and bathrooms, such as cross-border color-steel plate folding containers and customized glass curtain wall folding houses, among many other types to choose from.

Application Scenarios

  • Event accommodation: At the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, in order to reduce costs, the organizing committee used container houses to accommodate the participants. The Chinese men's basketball team stayed in the temporary container dormitories at the port dock. The dormitories were equipped with toilets and shower rooms, but there were issues such as limited space and insufficient facilities. For example, three people shared one toilet and one shower room, and there was only one air conditioner in the whole dormitory.
  • Temporary housing on construction sites: At construction sites and other places, container houses with toilets can serve as temporary dormitories and toilets for workers, facilitating their daily lives. They also have the advantages of being easy to move and reusable.
  • Outdoor scenic spots and other places: In outdoor scenic spots, parks, etc., container toilets can be used as public toilets to meet the toilet needs of tourists. Their aesthetic, hygienic, and safe features also meet the requirements of scenic spots.

Advantages and Disadvantages

  • Advantages: They have the characteristics of being aesthetically pleasing, easy to move, hygienic, and safe. They are reusable, convenient, and quick. After construction is completed, they only need to be disassembled and transported out after each use cycle, and can be reused multiple times. They can also be made into container houses of different sizes according to the number of people.
  • Disadvantages: The space is relatively small, which may make people feel cramped. In terms of sound insulation and heat insulation, they may not be as good as traditional houses. For example, if the door of a container dormitory is closed, it may feel hot. If the design is unreasonable or the quality is poor, problems such as water leakage may occur.
