Container House Wall Cracking
Admin September 16, 2026
Container house wall cracking can be caused by various factors, and targeted measures need to be taken according to the specific situation.

Causes of Cracking
- Product Quality Issues: Some low-priced container houses use inferior thin steel, non-standard thermal insulation cotton, and other materials with poor thermal insulation performance. In severe weather conditions such as heavy rain and strong winds, problems like wall leakage, frame deformation, and panel damage are prone to occur, leading to wall cracking. For example, unlicensed white-label container mobile homes have experienced frame deformation and wall cracking in 8-level winds.
- Foundation Issues: If the foundation of the container house is not compacted or changes in the surrounding environment affect foundation stability, such as sudden rises and falls in water levels near rivers or excessive moisture in the foundation due to adjacent rice paddies, it can lead to local settlement and uneven settlement of the building, thereby causing wall cracking. For instance, Mr. Gao's self-built house developed multiple through-cracks due to foundation issues caused by its proximity to a rice paddy.
- Structural Design and Construction Issues: Insufficient stiffness of the main structure of the house, such as the lack of ground beams or ring beams, can affect structural stability and lead to cracking. In addition, improper construction measures or materials can also cause surface cracks. For example, irregular fine cracks on the surfaces of beams, slabs, and columns may be caused by improper concrete mix ratios or inadequate curing during construction.
Countermeasures
- Entrust a Professional Institution for Inspection and Appraisal: After discovering wall cracking, do not blindly repair it yourself. Instead, entrust a professional institution to conduct a house safety inspection and appraisal. Engineers will conduct on-site inspections to determine the root cause of the cracks, distinguish whether they are ordinary plaster cracks or damage to the foundation or main structure, and issue scientific safety conclusions and reinforcement plans.
- Carry Out Reinforcement Construction According to the Appraisal Results: If the hidden dangers are relatively minor, reinforcement construction can be carried out in a timely manner. Common reinforcement methods include carbon fiber cloth reinforcement of beams and slabs, steel plate bonding reinforcement, steel bar reinforcement, foundation grouting reinforcement, and anchor rod static pressure pile correction. In the early stages, the scope of damage is small, the degree of component damage is low, and reinforcement construction is less difficult, has a shorter duration, and lower costs.
