Three-Room Container House
The configurations, application scenarios, and characteristics of three-room container houses vary depending on their intended use and design. Common configurations include residential, office, or commercial uses, with differences in spatial layout, facilities, and comfort levels.

Residential Container Houses
Taking the athlete dormitories at the Nagoya Asian Games in Japan as an example, they adopted a design where two households form a single unit, with each household featuring a two-bedroom, one-living-room layout that can accommodate three people. The rooms are decorated with wood, equipped with separate toilets, bathrooms, and dressing rooms, and the living area includes a refrigerator, sink, and washing machine. However, there are notable shortcomings: only one air conditioner is installed in the entire house, which can lead to stuffiness if the doors are closed; the bed size is 1.95 meters long and 90 centimeters wide, making it difficult for athletes taller than two meters to fit comfortably, affecting muscle recovery; three team members share one toilet and shower, leading to queues during peak times, and there have been instances of emergency evacuations due to leaks during heavy rain. This design prioritizes cost reduction, resulting in high space utilization but lower living comfort.
Commercial and Customized Container Houses
Some manufacturers offer expandable, modular-designed container houses. For example, standard 3-meter by 6-meter units can be combined to create a three-bedroom, one-living-room layout, suitable for rural mobile homes, hotel stations, or B&B villas. These houses adopt light steel structures or steel modular construction, with internal divisions for separate bedrooms, living rooms, and bathroom spaces. Some products feature floor-to-ceiling glass or creative dining areas to meet commercial needs. Prices vary based on configuration, with basic residential container mobile homes costing around 7,500 yuan per set, while luxury customized models can reach up to 55,000 yuan per set.
Functionally Optimized Designs
For northern climates, some manufacturers enhance thermal performance through three-layer construction: an outer layer of 0.6-millimeter-thick galvanized steel for wind and sand resistance, a middle layer filled with 80-100 millimeters of rock wool for insulation, and an inner layer of PVC-coated steel to reduce heat radiation. Additionally, an elevated floor is added at the bottom of the container to block cold bridges from the ground, reducing indoor temperature fluctuations by about 40% compared to traditional color steel plate houses. However, attention must be paid to the airtightness of door and window seals and joints to prevent local condensation. This design balances cost and comfort through industrialized construction methods, making it suitable for long-term living scenarios.
