Thickness of Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
The thickness of container houses varies depending on the type of component and brand. Common steel structural frame thicknesses range from 1.0mm to 3.0mm, while the thickness of enclosure panels ranges from 0.45mm to 100mm. Detailed analysis is as follows:

Thickness of Steel Structural Frames
The steel structural frame is the core load-bearing structure of container houses, and its thickness directly affects wind resistance, earthquake resistance, and service life.
- Mainstream Brand Products: The container houses from Suzhou Zhongnan use galvanized steel structural frames with a thickness of ≥2.0mm, achieving a wind resistance rating of 10 and meeting national earthquake resistance standards; the frame thickness of its quick-assembly container products is not explicitly specified, but the wind resistance rating is increased to 12. CIMC Modular's steel structures have a thickness of 1.8mm, with a wind resistance rating of 9; Baosteel Sumitomo's products have a thickness of 1.9mm, also with a wind resistance rating of 9.
- Non-standard Products: Some unbranded non-standard products on the market use ordinary steel with a thickness of ≤1.2mm, without galvanized anti-corrosion treatment, achieving a wind resistance rating of only 6-8, posing safety risks.
Thickness of Enclosure Panels
Enclosure panels include roofs, walls, and floors, and their thickness affects thermal insulation, heat insulation, and structural stability.
- Roof Materials: Commonly, 0.45mm galvanized color-coated steel sheets are paired with 100mm glass wool, and some products use 3.0mm thick galvanized main beams as the bottom frame.
- Wall Materials: Typically, 75mm thick color-coated steel glass wool sandwich panels are used, with inner and outer color-coated steel sheets having a thickness of 0.45mm; prefabricated walls have a thickness range of 50mm to 100mm, with core materials such as EPS or rock wool.
- Floors and Corrugated Sheets: Floors are laid on secondary beams, and corrugated sheets are pressed from thin steel sheets, with a minimum market thickness of 0.6mm, available in materials such as black iron and galvanized sheets.
Thickness of Other Components
- Columns and Channel Steels: Columns have a thickness of not less than 1mm and require professional equipment for pressing; channel steels (such as the 5X10 specification) are used for welding the main beams of the top and bottom of container houses, playing a decisive role in the structural integrity of the house.
- Special Scenario Requirements: In extremely cold environments (-30℃), 0.8mm corrugated steel sheets paired with 100mm rock wool sandwich panels are required to meet basic thermal insulation needs.
