Thermal Insulation and Noise of Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
Container houses can achieve good thermal insulation and sound insulation effects by selecting high-quality materials, optimizing structural design, and adopting special processes. Details are as follows:

Thermal Insulation:
- Material Selection: The thickness of thermal insulation rock wool in qualified products should be no less than 75mm, with an overall thermal conductivity of no more than 0.04W/(m·K). A polyurethane foam layer of over 50mm is used in the middle to block heat conduction. The outer layer is made of anti-corrosion color-coated steel plates to reflect sunlight, while the inner layer consists of fire-resistant gypsum boards and moisture-proof films working together to control humidity and stabilize temperature. Additionally, sandwich panels with aluminum foil reflective layers can be chosen to reflect part of the heat.
- Structural Optimization: Increasing the thickness of foam can provide good thermal insulation. For example, increasing the thickness of polystyrene foam during construction. Regular cultural and tourism space capsules are filled with high-density thermal insulation rock wool inside, combined with thermal break insulation processes to block cold and heat conduction. The doors and windows are made of thermal break aluminum double-glazed units to improve indoor temperature.
- Actual Effects: The national 'Technical Standard for Steel Structure Integrated Houses' clearly requires that the heat transfer coefficient of the walls of residential container houses should be ≤0.45W/(㎡·K), which is 1.8 times the thermal insulation efficiency of traditional brick-concrete walls. In actual measurements, the temperature inside the cabin rises 22 minutes slower than the outside at noon in summer, and the indoor temperature only drops by 1.3℃ after being closed for 8 hours in winter.
Sound Insulation:
- Materials and Structure: High-quality space capsules have sound insulation, shock absorption, and sealing layers added to the walls and ceilings to isolate external noise. Ordinary iron sheet containers have poor sound insulation effects, while multi-layer structures can effectively insulate sound.
- Sealing Process: Three layers of sealing strips are installed at the joints of door frames, window frames, and wall panels. All joint gaps are sealed with weather-resistant sealants to reduce sound transmission. The packed container houses of Tongxiang Jiacheng Mobile Panel House Co., Ltd. have an internal noise level of 58 decibels in the working environment of large construction machinery on the construction site, which meets the noise standard for normal indoor conversations, thanks to their good sealing and structural design.
