Specifications for Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

The specifications for container houses cover multiple aspects including structural design, material selection, construction and installation, acceptance inspection, and usage management.

Structural Design: It should comply with the building seismic design code, such as meeting the relevant requirements of GB50011 - 2010, to ensure structural safety under specified seismic intensities. Meanwhile, the impact of wind loads should be considered. There are differences in the wind resistance performance of products from different brands. For example, the product of Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. has a maximum frame deformation of only 2mm under the action of a strong wind of level 12, which is far lower than the 10mm limit specified in the national standard.

Material Selection: Steel should meet the corresponding standards. For example, the weld strength should comply with the GB/T 19001 - 2016 standard. Floor materials have specific requirements. For instance, there are regulations on the thickness of cold-rolled welded steel profiles, the density and flammability of rock wool boards. The flammability should reach Class B1, which is difficult to burn, and the smoke concentration level should be Q1 with low smoke emissions. The materials for the insulation layer of wall panels are also clearly specified. The density of rock wool boards is 120kg/m³, and the flammability is Class A, non-combustible; the density of Neopor R EPS boards is 18kg/m³, and the flammability is Class B1, difficult to burn.

Construction and Installation: There are dedicated construction and acceptance inspection standards, including on-site installation and allowable deviations, rust removal, and painting. The construction unit or the supervision unit should send representatives to supervise the production process in the factory, and the records of key production processes should be confirmed by the on-site supervision representatives.

Acceptance Inspection: The "Container House Quality Acceptance Standard" has been formulated, clarifying 12 quantitative acceptance indicators such as structural load-bearing capacity, fire resistance performance, and waterproofing lifespan. Acceptance inspection includes three parts: material quality acceptance, product factory quality acceptance, and on-site project quality acceptance.

Usage Management: If used as a building, relevant approval procedures such as land use right certificates and planning permits should be obtained; otherwise, it may constitute an illegal building. At the same time, there are special requirements for container houses in different scenarios. For example, in special scenarios such as emergency rescue and overseas projects, there will be additional compliance requirements and safety warnings.
