Container House Sliding Door Design
The design of sliding doors for container houses needs to balance functionality, structure, and aesthetics. Common design features and types are as follows:

Functional Layout Design
The core function of sliding doors in container houses is space division and passage. Double sliding doors in the middle can divide the container into separate areas (such as the duty area and conference room in a construction site office, or the bedroom and living room in a homestay). The door frames are usually reinforced with channel steel welded around them to enhance structural stability. Standard square windows are symmetrically installed on both sides (about 1 meter from the ground), ensuring privacy while optimizing natural light. This design is suitable for scenarios requiring flexible zoning and transparency.
Frame Structure Characteristics
To prevent deformation of the container body due to window or door openings, rectangular steel tube frames are welded at the window positions on the original corrugated side walls. A 12# I-beam is installed above the door frame to distribute the top load. The ground track adopts an embedded design to ensure smooth sliding of the sliding doors and reduce protruding obstacles. In high-end renovations, polyurethane foam is filled at the joints between doors and windows to improve airtightness and thermal insulation, making it particularly suitable for humid and hot regions or scenarios with high sound insulation requirements.
Ventilation and Lighting Optimization
Sliding door design needs to work in conjunction with the ventilation system. Four symmetrical windows, combined with ceiling exhaust fans or ventilators, create air convection. When the door at the end of the container is opened, a cross-ventilation effect can be achieved. Glass is mostly 5mm tempered insulated glass, which combines safety and thermal insulation and is widely used in container hotel renovations.
Comparison of Design Types
- Surface-mounted type: The sliding track is installed on the outside of the opening. The process is simple and easy to maintain, but it occupies wall space and is suitable for scenarios with low space requirements.
- Recessed type: The pulleys and door hinges are hidden, providing a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Some upgraded versions hide one door inside the wall to save space, but maintenance is more difficult. This type is suitable for projects pursuing a minimalist style with low maintenance frequency requirements.
- Multi-panel sliding type: The door panels are the same height as the room and can flexibly divide the space. The track is easy to maintain, but the sound insulation effect is relatively weak. This type is often used for temporary partitions or open layouts.
In addition, in the industrial field, reference can be made to the polyurethane insulated doors of Lanzhou Liqun Color Plate Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd. These doors adopt integrated foaming technology and have characteristics such as fire resistance and Class A safety rating. Although not specifically designed for container houses, their structural reinforcement and thermal insulation design can provide ideas for customized renovations.
