Container House Sketch Tutorial
Admin September 16, 2026
Here is a tutorial on how to sketch a container house:

Tool Preparation
Prepare paper and drawing tools such as watercolor pens, colored pencils, or markers for easy drawing and coloring later.
Drawing Steps
- Step 1: Draw the main outline of the container house
- First, draw a rectangle as the base of the container house. The size of this rectangle determines the overall size and proportion of the house.
- Above the rectangle, draw another slightly smaller rectangle in parallel to represent the top of the container. Connect the two rectangles with vertical lines to form the side profile of the container. If you want to draw a house with multiple stacked containers, follow this method to draw rectangles of different sizes upwards in sequence.
- Step 2: Add details such as doors and windows
- Door: Choose a suitable position on the side of the container and draw a rectangle slightly smaller than the side rectangle as the door. You can draw a small rectangle on the door to represent the doorknob.
- Windows: Draw windows on the other sides or the front of the container. The windows can be square or rectangular, and you can determine the number and position according to your preference. For example, draw two small rectangles side by side on the front as windows.
- Step 3: Improve the house structure
- If the container house has structures such as a balcony or corridor, draw them in the corresponding positions. For example, draw a narrow rectangle on one side of the house as a balcony and use horizontal lines to represent the balcony railings.
- You can also add some simple facilities on the roof of the house, such as solar panels. Draw several small rectangles arranged on the roof.
Coloring
- Color Selection: Container houses usually have an industrial style, and colors such as gray, blue, and brown can be chosen. For the doors and windows, contrasting colors like white or yellow can be used to highlight them.
- Coloring Techniques: Use watercolor pens or markers to color evenly, paying attention to color matching and transitions. You can color the large areas first and then the details. For example, use a dark color to outline the frames of the doors and windows to enhance the three-dimensional effect.
Precautions
- Simple sketches focus on being concise and clear. Do not pursue overly complex details, but mainly highlight the main features of the container house.
- During the drawing process, you can refer to more real-life pictures or design drawings of container houses to better grasp the proportions and structures.
