Self-assembly of Container Houses
Self-assembly of container houses is feasible, but it requires careful operation based on the structural type and installation steps. Here are the specific details:

Structural Type Selection
The common structural types of container houses on the market are divided into welded integral boxes and bolt-connected assembled boxes. Welded integral boxes are welded into shape as a whole in the factory, with a direct force path and strong resistance to deformation, suitable for frequent lifting and moving. However, on-site assembly is relatively difficult and requires professional equipment and technology. Bolt-connected assembled boxes use standard plates connected by bolts, with multiple connection nodes in the force path. The tightness of each node directly affects the overall stability, but the installation is relatively flexible and suitable for self-assembly.
Key Installation Steps
If you choose a bolt-connected assembled box, follow these steps:
- Bottom Frame Installation: On a flat ground or workbench, connect the bottom corners of the box to the bottom beams. Use hexagon socket bolts and do not tighten them temporarily. After adjusting the squareness (ensuring that the diagonal difference of the bottom frame is ≤3mm), tighten the bolts.
- Secondary Beam and Floor Installation: Install π-shaped secondary beams according to the positioning holes of the long beams and fix them with self-tapping screws. Lay the floor base plate along the 6-meter direction, with the splicing joints coinciding with the centerline of the π-shaped beams. Snap a chalk line according to the markings and fix it with cross-flat-head dovetail screws at intervals of 300-350mm.
- Floor Treatment: Grind the floor joints as a whole, brush PVC special floor adhesive, lay the floor covering and expel the air, and perform welding treatment at the splicing joints.
Precautions
- Stability Control: The tightness of the nodes in bolt-connected assembled boxes is crucial. Regularly check whether the bolts are loose.
- Space Design: You can expand functional areas (such as living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms) by splicing 2-3 containers or stacking them in different levels, but you need to plan the house type and space layout in advance.
- Quality and Safety: Choose reliable and easy-to-install suppliers (such as Shandong Zhongyu Integrated Housing Co., Ltd., Shanghai Tongjiuzhou Container Co., Ltd., etc.) to ensure that the materials meet the standards (such as a chassis load-bearing capacity of ≥200 kg/square meter).
