Container House Roof Rotten

Admin September 15, 2026

The rotten roof of container houses leads to water leakage problems. Common causes and handling directions are as follows:

1. Loose or Aged Fasteners

During the installation and use of container houses, if the roof is stepped on, it may cause the fasteners to loosen. At the same time, the aging of the waterproof gaskets of the fasteners can damage their sealing performance, leading to water leakage. When handling this issue, it is necessary to check all the fasteners on the roof, re-tighten the loose parts, and replace the aged waterproof gaskets to ensure the sealing effect.

2. Unqualified Waterproof Materials or Improper Handling

If the waterproof materials selected during construction are of substandard quality or there are defects in the waterproofing process, the waterproof layer is prone to failure as the container house ages, resulting in water leakage. It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the roof waterproof layer. If material degradation or construction defects are found, the original waterproof layer should be removed, and qualified materials should be re-selected and constructed in a standardized manner to ensure the integrity and durability of the waterproof layer.

3. Hole Opening and Deformation of the Roof Panel

When opening holes in the roof panel to install equipment such as fans and exhaust pipes, if the waterproofing around the cracks is not properly handled, or if the roof panel deforms and the cracks at the joints expand due to wind loads, snow loads, thermal expansion and contraction, etc., the original waterproof structure will be damaged. It is necessary to re-perform waterproof sealing around the holes, using flexible waterproof materials to fill the cracks; correct or replace the deformed roof panels, and strengthen the waterproofing measures at the joints, such as adding waterproof tapes or sealants.

4. Gutter Design and Construction Problems

If the gutter has no horizontal slope, the outlet design is unreasonable, or the gutter is not properly anti-corrosive, leading to rust erosion and debris blocking the outlet, it will cause water accumulation and backflow. It is necessary to redesign the slope of the gutter to ensure smooth drainage; clean the debris from the outlet, repair or replace the rusted gutter; strengthen the anti-corrosive treatment of the gutter, such as painting anti-corrosive coatings or adding anti-corrosive layers to extend its service life.
