Production Method for Container House Ridge
The production of container house ridges can refer to the general practices for steel structure roof joints, combined with the key points of metal roof construction. The specific steps are as follows:

I. Core Structure and Material Selection
The ridge joint should consist of roof metal panels, ridge cover panels, ridge plugs (metal external plugs), reinforcing back panels, and sliding supports. Materials must meet waterproofing and deformation resistance requirements: Metal panels (such as galvanized steel sheets, aluminum-magnesium-manganese panels) should be used in conjunction with sealing materials like butyl tape and sealant. Sliding supports are recommended to be made of corrosion-resistant metal materials (such as stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized steel) to adapt to the long-term outdoor exposure of container roofs.
II. Construction Process and Key Points
Base Layer Treatment
- Install sliding supports on the roof purlins. When fixing the roof metal panels, reserve a calculated spacing (usually determined based on the thermal expansion coefficient of the panels to avoid deformation leading to ridge cracking).
- Ensure that the metal panels on both sides of the ridge are straight, without warping or misalignment, providing a stable foundation for subsequent joint installation.
Reinforcing Back Panel Installation
- Install a reinforcing back panel at the ridge position. When fixing the ridge metal external plug, do not directly nail it to the roof purlins. Instead, use dedicated connectors (such as self-tapping screws + waterproof gaskets) to secure it to the reinforcing back panel, preventing structural damage or water leakage risks.
- The reinforcing back panel should extend a certain distance on both sides of the ridge (usually ≥300mm) to enhance local support.
Plug and Cover Panel Fixing
- Wrap the edges of the ridge metal external plug with butyl tape. The fixing nails should face outdoors (to avoid water accumulation in the nail holes), with a nail spacing of ≤200mm.
- The overlap length between the ridge cover panel and the plug should be ≥250mm. Apply a hidden sealant (embedded in the gap) first, then a visible sealant (covering the surface), and finally connect with rivets or stitching nails to ensure sealing and structural strength.
Sealing Treatment
- Fill the overlap areas of the cover panels and the areas around the fixing nails with sealant to form a continuous waterproof layer, preventing rainwater backflow or capillary penetration.
- If the ridge is designed with a drainage trough, ensure that there are no debris inside and that the drainage slope meets the design requirements (usually ≥2%).
III. Functional Design and Adaptive Adjustments
- Deformation Prevention Design: The ridge reinforcing back panel can disperse the roof load, preventing ridge water backflow due to deformation of the container structure. The sliding supports allow for thermal expansion and contraction of the metal panels, preventing panel tearing or joint loosening.
- Skylight Panel Adaptation: If skylight panels are used on the roof, reinforcing back panels and eave metal strips should be added at the overlap positions. The overlap length should also be ≥250mm, and the number of sealant layers should be increased (recommended: hidden sealant + visible sealant + structural sealant for triple protection).
IV. Construction Precautions
- Order Precision: Construction must follow the order of "sliding support installation → metal panel fixing → reinforcing back panel installation → plug and cover panel fixing → sealing treatment". Reversing the order may lead to waterproofing failure.
- Structural Characteristic Adaptation: Container roofs usually have a small slope (≤5%). The height of the ridge cover panel should be adjusted or additional drainage troughs should be added to optimize drainage performance and avoid water accumulation.
- Acceptance Criteria: After construction, a water spraying test (lasting more than 2 hours) should be conducted to confirm no leakage before proceeding to the next step.
