Methods of Renting Container Houses

Admin September 17, 2026

The methods of renting container houses can be mainly divided into two categories: general container leasing and residential container house leasing, as detailed below:

In terms of general container leasing, there are three primary methods. First, time charter leasing: This method involves leasing by time and can be further divided into 'finance leasing' and 'time-use leasing'. 'Finance leasing' means that at the end of the lease term, the lessee is required to purchase the container; 'time-use leasing', on the other hand, requires the lessee to return the container to the lessor upon lease expiration. Second, voyage charter leasing: This involves leasing by voyage and includes two types: single-voyage leasing and round-trip leasing. Single-voyage leasing is suitable for one-way use from the port of origin to the destination port, with the lessee required to pay container pickup and return fees based on actual circumstances; round-trip leasing is not limited to simple round trips and has no restrictions on the lease term, but strictly limits the return location. Third, flexible leasing: This method allows the lessee to adjust the lease term or quantity according to actual needs. In terms of time, it is similar to long-term leasing; however, in terms of usage rights, it is the same as spot leasing. The lease term is usually one year, with the lessor and lessee determining the daily pickup and return quantities and locations in advance, and the rent calculated based on the number of days used.

Regarding residential container house leasing, there are two main approaches. First, direct contact with container house manufacturers: The advantage of this method is that the lessee can directly communicate their needs with the manufacturer and choose a house type and configuration that suits them. Additionally, the lessee can directly learn about the details of the lease contract, such as price and term, ensuring a transparent and fair leasing process. Second, leasing through real estate agencies: This method is suitable for lessees who are unfamiliar with the container house market or wish to save time and effort. Real estate agencies typically have extensive housing information and professional leasing services, enabling them to provide comprehensive leasing solutions for lessees.
