Recycling Price of Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

There is no fixed standard for the recycling price of container houses, which is mainly influenced by factors such as service life, container condition, size, steel quality, and market supply and demand, resulting in a wide price range.

I. Approximate Price Range Based on Service Life

  • Containers with a service life of about 8 years: The selling price generally falls within the range of 1,000 to 6,000 yuan. Due to their long service time, these containers may exhibit a certain degree of wear and tear in appearance and structure, such as fading and rusting. The specific price fluctuates based on factors such as container condition, size, and steel quality. For example, if the container structure is intact but the surface is severely rusted, the price may be close to the lower limit; if the steel quality is good and the internal wear is light, the price may be close to the upper limit.
  • Containers with a service life of about 3 to 5 years: Market quotes are mostly concentrated between 3,000 and 8,000 yuan. These containers have a relatively small difference in appearance from new ones and a relatively intact structure. The actual transaction price needs to be comprehensively evaluated based on the current condition, model type, and material grade of the container. For example, a 20-foot standard container in good condition may be priced close to 8,000 yuan; if there is slight wear and tear or it is a non-standard model, the price may be below 3,000 yuan.

II. Other Key Factors Affecting the Price

  • Container condition and structural integrity: Containers with no obvious damage in appearance and a solid structure (such as firm welds and standard steel plate thickness) have a higher recycling price. For example, an old container that has only been used for 1 to 2 years and has an appearance similar to a new one and an intact structure may have a price close to 70% to 80% of that of a new container of the same size.
  • Size and material: Containers with large sizes (such as 40 feet) or made of high-end materials (such as weathering steel and rock wool sandwich panels) have a higher recycling price. For example, a 40-foot container house made of weathering steel may have a recycling price of over 40,000 yuan due to its large capacity and durable material.
  • Market supply and demand and regional differences: The recycling price of containers may be higher in areas with high demand (such as the outskirts of first-tier cities) or for special purposes (such as temporary medical facilities and post-disaster reconstruction); conversely, the price may be lower in areas with an oversupply.
