Container House Rail Height
The rail height of container houses should be determined based on the height of the platform from the reference plane, with the following specific standards:

According to the provisions of GB4053.3-2009 'Safety Requirements for Fixed Steel Ladders and Platforms - Part 3: Industrial Protective Rails and Steel Platforms', the height of the protective rail should match the height of the platform from the reference plane:
- When the height of the platform from the reference plane is less than 2 meters, the rail height should be not less than 900 millimeters. Such scenarios are commonly found on balconies or rooftop platforms of low-rise container houses, for example, some terraces or temporary viewing areas transformed from single-story containers.
- When the height of the platform from the reference plane is greater than or equal to 2 meters and less than 20 meters, the rail height should be not less than 1050 millimeters. This standard is applicable to the corridors, external passageways, or middle-level terraces of most 2-3-story container houses, such as the external protection of construction site dormitories and temporary office spaces.
- When the height of the platform from the reference plane is not less than 20 meters, the rail height should be not less than 1200 millimeters. Such scenarios are mostly seen in high-rise container buildings, such as modular apartments or commercial complexes with more than 6 stories. However, it should be noted that container houses usually have limited height, and such cases are relatively rare.
Supplementary Explanation for Special Scenarios: If the container house is used for public activity areas (such as exhibition halls and leisure venues), additional consideration should be given to the factor of high pedestrian traffic. It is recommended to follow the highest standard (1200 millimeters) to ensure safety. In addition, if the house has a rooftop terrace and the height difference between the terrace edge and the ground exceeds 2 meters, rails must be set up according to the corresponding standard. For example, in a certain case, a customized cable rail system with a height of 1050 millimeters was used on the rooftop terrace, and LED lights were installed to enhance nighttime safety.
Design Considerations: The rail height should be measured vertically from the platform floor to the top of the rail and should be used in conjunction with a toe board. The top height of the toe board should be not less than 100 millimeters, and the bottom should be no more than 10 millimeters from the ground to prevent items from falling or people from slipping. For example, the wall of a certain packaged container house is made of 75-millimeter-thick color-steel glass-wool sandwich panels, and its external rail design should coordinate with the wall structure to ensure overall stability.
