Container House Promotional Brochure
A container house is a new type of building form that uses containers as the basic structural modules and is transformed for habitation or office use.

I. Specifications and Structural Features Container houses commonly follow international standard container sizes, such as 20-foot containers (6.058 meters long, 2.438 meters wide, and 2.591 meters high) and 40-foot containers (12.192 meters long, 2.438 meters wide, and 2.591 meters high). Due to the relatively low indoor height and narrow, elongated horizontal space of standard containers, adaptive combination designs of container bodies are typically employed during transformation. By assembling multiple containers, diverse architectural forms can be created, meeting the needs of different scales, from small single-container buildings to large composite structures, while also creating unique artistic styles.
II. Production Processes There are two main production processes for container houses:
- Direct Transformation Method: Using shipping containers as prototypes, they are transformed into habitable or office spaces through processes such as reinforcement, cutting, window installation, door and window installation, and interior decoration.
- Modular Production Method: In factories, top and bottom frames are prefabricated according to container dimensions, connected by columns to form skeletons, and then walls are assembled using materials such as color-steel sandwich panels. This method allows for flexible adjustment of dimensions and layouts and facilitates mass production.
III. Core Advantages
- Environmentally Friendly and Flexible: With modular design, they require no complex civil engineering works, can be relocated as a whole without generating construction waste, and are suitable for temporary housing, creative spaces, post-disaster emergency buildings, and other fields.
- Cost-Effective: Compared to traditional brick-and-mortar houses or commercial space rentals, the cost of container houses can be reduced by more than 50%, and they can be reused, further saving long-term investments.
- Highly Customizable: The exterior can be freely painted, and the interior space can be customized according to needs, supporting various styles from minimalist modern to retro industrial.
IV. Application Scenarios Container houses have been widely used in construction site dormitories, startup shops, mobile offices, special containers, and customized scenarios (such as homestays and emergency medical facilities). For example, the Nagoya Asian Games in Japan once used container houses to form the Asian Games Village, while Zaozhuang City in Shandong Province, China, utilized container houses to create a characteristic homestay scenic area.
