Container House Practices

Admin September 15, 2026

The practices for container houses include purchasing, ground treatment, structural construction, interior decoration, and post-maintenance. Details are as follows:

I. Purchasing Stage Choose the structural type based on needs:

  • Welded Integral Container: Factory-welded as a whole, with direct force paths and strong resistance to deformation, suitable for frequent lifting and moving.
  • Bolt-Connected Modular Container: Composed of standard panels connected by bolts. Check the steel wall thickness of columns and bottom beams (common specifications range from 1.5mm to 3mm). Thicker walls provide greater load-bearing redundancy.
  • Coating Process: Prefer hot-dip galvanizing for longer corrosion resistance, especially suitable for areas with significant temperature differences between day and night and humidity variations.

II. Ground Treatment

  • Foundation Requirements: Clear the ground of loose soil and debris, and compact the original soil layer. For long-term fixed use, pour a concrete strip foundation (width 30cm to 50cm, depth determined by the thickness of the frozen soil layer), with a horizontal height difference of no more than 5mm on the foundation top surface.
  • Short-term Use: Use prefabricated concrete blocks or steel plates, with a spacing of no more than 2m between blocks, and lay a gravel leveling layer underneath.

III. Structural Construction

  • Steel Frame Welding: Weld the chassis using channel steel or square steel, and use square steel for full welding of columns and roof beams.
  • Wall and Roof Panel Installation: Use color-coated steel plates or cleanroom panels for splicing, with standard sizes for windows and doors. Lay building templates or floor leather on the chassis.
  • Lifting and Positioning: Use steel wire ropes with sufficient load-bearing capacity to ensure synchronous force application at all lifting points, avoiding container distortion. After positioning, check the fit between the bottom beam and foundation blocks, with a horizontal error controlled within 2mm per meter.

IV. Interior Decoration and Functional Enhancement

  • Water and Electricity Installation: Reserve spaces for lighting, switches, sockets, and air conditioning holes. Install lighting fixtures in the middle of the house, switches beside the door, and sockets 60cm above the ground.
  • Waterproofing: Use glass curtain wall waterproof sealant for roof panels. Regularly replace sealants around doors and windows, container joints, and roof gutters.
  • Space Optimization: Expand functional areas through modular combinations or staggered stacking, and use multifunctional furniture to enhance space flexibility.

V. Post-Maintenance

  • Rust and Corrosion Prevention: Inspect welds, corners, and other areas annually, and immediately grind and repaint any rust spots found.
  • Condensation Prevention: Install insulation layers and vapor barriers on walls and roofs, and enhance ventilation to avoid using bare steel plates directly as interior walls.
