Container House Parking Space Size

Admin September 15, 2026

There is no unified standard for the size of container house parking spaces, which need to be determined according to the vehicle type, parking method, and specific purpose. The following introduces the common size ranges of container house parking spaces from different scenarios and needs:

I. Parking Space Sizes for Conventional Vehicle Types

  • Small Cars: When used for parking small cars with a perpendicular parking method, the minimum size of the parking space should be 5.3 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, and the minimum width of the access aisle at the front of the parking space should be 5.5 meters. The minimum distance between a small car and the walls on both sides should be 0.6 meters, and the minimum distance from the front and rear walls should be 0.5 meters.
  • Medium and Large Cars: For medium and large vehicles such as SUVs, the parking space size needs to be increased accordingly. Generally, the width should be increased to 3.6 to 4.3 meters, and the length to 6.7 to 7.3 meters.
  • Special Large Vehicles: The parking space for minibuses is 3 meters wide and 8 - 10 meters long; the parking space for buses is 3.5 meters wide and 12.5 - 14.5 meters long; the parking space for large trucks is 4 meters wide and 7 - 10 meters long.

II. Parking Space Sizes under Different Parking Arrangement Methods

  • Parallel Parking Spaces: The standard length is 6 meters, and the width is 2.5 meters.
  • Angled Parking Spaces: The diagonal length reaches 6 meters, and the width is 2.8 meters. The perpendicular distance between the two diagonal lines should be maintained at the standard of 2.5 meters. However, angled parking spaces should not be used for large vehicle parking spaces.
  • Perpendicular Parking Spaces: The length is greater than or equal to 5 meters, usually set to 6 meters, and the width is 2.5 meters. Generally, a size of 2.5×5.3 meters is the best standard parking space size.

III. Parking Space Sizes for Special Purposes

  • Tandem Parking Spaces: Planar tandem parking spaces are often characterized by a long depth and a narrow width, with a length generally around 10 meters and a width slightly narrower than that of ordinary parking spaces. For mechanical tandem parking spaces (such as simple lifting types), the net size of a single parking space often refers to the standard motor vehicle parking space of 2.5 meters in width and 5.3 meters in length. The actual floor area also needs to reserve additional space for equipment installation, maintenance aisles, and vehicle turnover, usually 15% to 20% larger than the equipment base size.
