Container House and Color-Steel House for Office Use

Admin September 17, 2026

When used as offices, container houses and color-steel houses exhibit significant differences in terms of cost, performance, and applicable scenarios, necessitating selection based on actual needs.

Cost Aspect: The cost of container houses is generally significantly higher than that of color-steel houses. Container houses employ solid steel frames, resulting in higher material costs. For instance, some container houses are priced at 5800 yuan or more. In contrast, color-steel houses feature a lightweight steel frame with two layers of color-steel plates, leading to relatively lower material costs and diverse pricing options. For example, some simply assembled color-steel movable board houses cost only 137.75 yuan, while monthly sales of container mobile house color-steel integrated houses are also just 4800 yuan.

Performance Aspect: Container houses offer more reliable performance. Their steel frames provide a stable structure, with customizable colors and sizes. The materials used are of good quality, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and durable. In adverse weather conditions, they can maintain structural stability and integrity, with good high-temperature resistance. The walls are internally lined with rock wool for insulation and heat preservation, resulting in a longer service life compared to old-style color-plate houses. Color-steel houses, on the other hand, are characterized by their "lightweight yet high strength." The panels are made of 0.3 to 0.6 mm thick galvanized steel sheets, with the base plate cold-formed and internally filled with polystyrene or rock wool. This design effectively resists bending moments caused by wind loads and buffers indoor temperature fluctuations. However, their overall structural strength and durability are inferior to those of container houses, with the main steel frame of the building having a service life of approximately 10 to 15 years and the wall panels about 5 to 8 years.

Applicable Scenarios Aspect: Container houses boast an aesthetically pleasing appearance and high plasticity, making them suitable for scenarios with high office environment requirements and long-term use, such as corporate fixed office locations or high-end project departments. Color-steel houses, with their rapid installation speed and modular unit construction method, adapt to various construction site scenarios. They compensate for ground elevation differences through adjustable steel bases at the bottom. The standard unit load-bearing frames are made of C-shaped steel or square steel tubes, with nodes connected by bolts, allowing for horizontal splicing or vertical stacking. This makes them more suitable for short-term use scenarios such as temporary dormitories, warehouses, or simple offices on construction sites. Additionally, color-steel houses can be reused, with standardized and durable connectors. They are configured according to different construction application scenarios, such as using "rock wool sandwich panels" near heavy machinery sites to enhance fire resistance, "polystyrene sandwich panels" in office areas to reduce self-weight, and "insulated" color-plate houses rented by some construction sites in winter.
