Container House Mounted on Trailer
Admin September 16, 2026
When a container house is mounted on a trailer, vertical loading and unloading methods or horizontal loading and unloading methods are usually used for loading and unloading operations. Here is a detailed introduction:

Vertical Loading and Unloading Method
The vertical loading and unloading method mainly relies on powerful lifting machinery and is relatively common at dedicated container terminals. Container loading and unloading operations on ships are carried out with the help of quayside container cranes. There are various types of machinery available for selection in the freight yard:
- Straddle Carrier Method: Straddle carriers can flexibly move around the freight yard, efficiently handle containers, and quickly transfer containers from one place to another, adapting to loading and unloading requirements at different locations.
- Rubber-Tired Gantry Crane Method: It has strong mobility and can move freely and operate within a certain range. It can flexibly adjust its operating position according to the storage location of the goods and loading and unloading requirements, improving loading and unloading efficiency.
- Rail-Mounted Gantry Crane Method: It has excellent stability, runs along a predetermined track, and accurately completes lifting tasks. It is suitable for large-scale and high-frequency container loading and unloading operations in fixed freight yard areas.
- Chassis Truck Method: It provides a convenient connection mode for container transportation, facilitating the transfer of containers between different transportation links.
Horizontal Loading and Unloading Method
The horizontal loading and unloading method uses a flexible roll-on/roll-off mode to achieve seamless connection between different transportation links:
- Loading Process: Place the container on a chassis truck (trailer). The tractor tows the trailer through a ramp hinged to the bow gate, stern gate, or side gate of the ship to enter the ship's hold, achieving container loading operations.
- Unloading at Port: After arriving at the port, forklifts and牵引列车 (this term might be better translated as 'haulage trains' if it refers to trains for towing; if it's a specific local term, keep as is for now) play key roles. The forklift places the container on the trailer, and the haulage train tows it to the码头货场 (container yard at the port). Alternatively, only forklifts can be used to load and unload containers through the ramp. At ports, trailers and forklifts are the main loading and unloading equipment; at stations, forklifts or parallel shifting loaders undertake the important task of transshipment, achieving the smooth transfer of containers between different transportation vehicles.
