Container House Interior Wallpaper

Admin September 17, 2026

In 2024, when applying wallpaper to the interior of residential container houses, it is essential to focus on wall surface treatment and construction standards, while selecting appropriate wallpaper types based on specific needs.

1. Wall Surface Dryness is a Fundamental Prerequisite
After priming, the wall surface must be completely dry. This can be determined by observing the color of the base layer: if the color is uniform without any variations in shade, it indicates that the moisture has fully evaporated; if there are localized dark or damp spots, the drying time should be extended. Insufficient drying can lead to bulging or peeling of the wallpaper after application, especially on metal or composite panel walls in container houses, where moisture retention can cause rusting or deformation of the base layer.

2. Wall Surface Load-Bearing Capacity and Surface Treatment Must Meet Standards
The wall surface must have sufficient load-bearing capacity (i.e., adhesive strength) and water absorption capacity to ensure the penetration and curing of wallpaper adhesive. Before construction, the wall surface should be thoroughly cleaned to remove oil stains, dust, and other impurities, and the pH value of the wall surface should be neutral (to avoid excessive alkalinity causing wallpaper fading). The surface should be smooth and flat; if there are any bumps or cracks, they should be filled with plaster and sanded until there are no visible particles, preventing wrinkles or air pockets after wallpaper application.

3. Strictly Adhere to Standard Construction Procedures
Painters should follow the standard procedure of "one layer of plaster, two layers of putty, and sanding":

  • First Layer of Plaster: Fill in holes and cracks on the wall surface to enhance the stability of the base layer;
  • Two Layers of Putty: Gradually level the wall surface, with the second layer of putty applied only after the first layer is completely dry to avoid cracking due to shrinkage;
  • Sanding: Use fine sandpaper to sand the wall surface until smooth, removing any burrs left by the putty to improve the adhesion between the wallpaper and the wall surface.

4. Special Treatment for New Walls
If the original wall surface is made of gypsum board (such as some partition walls in container houses), no additional painting is required, but it should be treated according to the surface structure of the base wall: apply an interface agent to the plaster or putty layer to enhance the adhesive strength between the base layer and the wallpaper adhesive, preventing delamination due to differences in water absorption rates.

5. Wallpaper Type Selection Should Match the Scenario
There is a wide variety of container-specific wallpapers available on the market. For example, the popular 3D murals for photo-taking container backgrounds in Shenzhen, Guangdong, are suitable for scenarios pursuing visual effects; if practicality is a priority, waterproof and moisture-proof PVC wallpapers or non-woven wallpapers can be chosen to adapt to the humidity changes that container houses may face.

Base Layer Treatment is Key: From dryness and load-bearing capacity to construction procedures, every aspect directly affects the application effect and service life of the wallpaper and must be strictly controlled to avoid rework.
