Integral Installation of Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

The integral installation of container houses should follow the principles of structural stability, reasonable procedures, and safety compliance. The core steps include foundation treatment, steel structure assembly, wall and roof panel installation, and finalization of water, electricity, doors, and windows. The following provides an explanation from three aspects: installation process, technical key points, and precautions.

I. Installation Process and Key Steps

  1. Foundation Treatment
Ensure that the ground is level, with an error controlled within ±3mm. For long-term use scenarios, it is recommended to pour concrete piers or lay tooling platforms and embed drainage pipes to prevent water accumulation from causing structural corrosion. For example, a temporary office project extended the service life of container houses to more than 5 years by embedding drainage pipes.

  2. Steel Structure Assembly

    • Frame Connection: Use hexagon socket bolts to fix the box corners to the bottom beams. After leveling, tighten the bolts to ensure that the diagonal difference is ≤3mm.
    • Secondary Beam Installation: Install π-shaped secondary beams according to the positioning holes, fix them with self-tapping screws, and add drill tail screws at the top to enhance stability.
    • Verticality Control: When stacking multiple containers, use a plumb line to calibrate the verticality of the steel beams. If the deviation exceeds 5mm, readjustment is required.
  3. Wall and Roof Panel Installation

    • Floor Laying: Lay magnesium oxide board substrates along the 6-meter direction. The joints should be chamfered and marked with a chalk line, fixed with cross-head swallowtail screws, with a nail spacing of 300-350mm.
    • Wall and Roof Panels: Install exterior wall panels after reserving positions for doors and windows. The roof panels should be covered with a waterproof layer, and the joints should be welded to prevent leakage.
  4. Finalization of Water, Electricity, Doors, and Windows

    • Water and Electricity Installation: Embed circuit pipelines and make waterproof sealing treatments at the joints.
    • Door and Window Sealing: Use waterproof glue to fill the gaps to ensure no air or water leakage.

II. Technical Key Points and Compliance Requirements

  • Wind and Earthquake Resistance Design: In coastal or high-seismic zones, choose a fully steel structural frame. For example, the Suzhou Zhongnan packing container has a wind resistance rating of up to Level 12 and an earthquake resistance rating of Level 8, with a deformation rate of only 0.18%.
  • Connection Method: Prioritize welding processes. Bolted connections should be regularly checked for tightness to avoid loosening after long-term use.
  • Waterproof Treatment: The joints of the roof panels should be welded, and the joints between the wall panels and the ground should be coated with PVC special adhesive and laid with floor adhesive to expel air.

III. Precautions and Risk Warnings

  • Safety Compliance: Lifting operations should be carried out by professionals. Non-staff members should stay away from the installation area to avoid the risk of falling objects from heights.
  • Compliance Check: Before installation, verify the product's wind and earthquake resistance test reports. Do not use non-standard white-label products, as their frame deformation rate may exceed 1.2%, posing safety hazards.
  • Scenario Adaptation: Choose specifications according to usage needs. For example, a 3m×6m single container is suitable for temporary offices, and assembled containers can be expanded to 3m×9m to meet dormitory needs.
