Container House Installation Specifications

Admin September 15, 2026

Container house installation specifications mainly involve aspects such as dimensions, load-bearing capacity, combination methods, and installation requirements:

I. Common Specification Dimensions

  1. International standard container houses mainly come in 20-foot and 40-foot containers:

    • The external dimensions of a 20-foot container are 6058mm×2438mm×2591mm, and the internal clear dimensions are approximately 5867mm×2330mm×2350mm, suitable for scenarios such as single-person offices and dormitories.
    • The external dimensions of a 40-foot container are 12192mm×2438mm×2591mm, and the internal clear dimensions are approximately 11998mm×2330mm×2350mm, which can be divided into multi-functional spaces or multi-person dormitories.
    • The height of a 40-foot high cube container (40HQ) is increased to 2896mm, with an internal clear height of 2655mm, meeting the requirements for exhibition halls or housing with high floor height demands.
  2. Non-standard customized dimensions are flexible:

    • The length can be selected from 3m, 6m, 9m, 12m, etc., the width can be selected from 2.5m, 3m, 4m, and the height can be selected from 2.6m, 2.8m, 2.9m.
    • For example, the duplex container house produced by Guangzhou Jinge Company has dimensions of 11.8m×2.25m×2.8m, and after splicing, the dimensions can reach 11.8m×6.75m×2.8m, with a usable area of 80 square meters.

II. Load-Bearing Capacity and Structural Performance

  1. Load-bearing capacity:

    • A 20-foot container has a load-bearing capacity of about 25 tons, and a 40-foot container has a higher load-bearing capacity. The specific values need to refer to the manufacturer's technical specifications.
    • The structure adopts galvanized frames or cold-rolled welded steel profiles to ensure earthquake resistance (magnitude 8) and wind resistance (magnitude 9) performance.
  2. Materials and workmanship:

    • The walls commonly use color-steel sandwich panels (thickness 50mm), with a galvanized color-steel plate as the inner layer and polystyrene board or rock wool board filled in the middle to achieve thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire prevention functions.
    • The floor adopts cold-rolled steel profiles welded with 4mm thick steel plates, and the surface is covered with PVC flooring or plywood, which is wear-resistant and has a fire rating of B1.

III. Installation Requirements and Combination Methods

  1. Foundation requirements:

    • The ground needs to be level, and a reinforced concrete foundation should be used to ensure structural stability.
    • During installation, columns need to be erected and transverse beams connected to form a framework, and then partition boards, exterior wall panels, and door and window frames should be installed.
  2. Combination and expandability:

    • The building scale can be expanded by combining containers (vertically and horizontally), adapting to large-scale projects ranging from a single container to combinations of hundreds of containers.
    • For example, foldable container mobile homes can be stacked two stories high and equipped with roofs, corridor awnings, and other facilities to improve space utilization.
