Container House Installation Procedures

Admin September 15, 2026

The installation of container houses requires going through approval procedures, mainly involving site selection, planning, and temporary building approval. Details are as follows:

Site Selection and Land Property Confirmation
First, it is necessary to go to the local land management department to confirm the land property of the site to ensure it meets construction requirements. For example, if the land property is industrial land or construction land, subsequent procedures can be carried out; if it is agricultural land or an ecological protection area, the site selection needs to be adjusted or an application for land property change needs to be made. After confirming the land property, a land use contract needs to be signed with the landowner to clarify the use period, scope, and the rights and responsibilities of both parties.

Planning Filing and Approval
After completing site selection, it is necessary to apply for site planning filing with the local planning department with land-related documents (such as land certificates, contracts, etc.). The planning department will review indicators such as site layout, building density, and fire exits according to regional planning requirements. After approval, a planning filing certificate or relevant approval document will be issued as the basis for subsequent approvals.

Temporary Building Approval
Container houses usually fall into the category of temporary buildings, and an application for temporary building approval needs to be submitted to the local urban management department or land management department. The materials to be submitted for approval include: land contracts, planning filing certificates, design drawings of container houses (including structure, dimensions, materials, etc.), and construction plans (including safety measures, construction periods, etc.). The approval period for temporary buildings is generally 2 years, and an application for renewal for another 2 years can be made upon expiration. After approval, construction must be carried out according to the requirements of the approval document and regular inspections must be accepted.

Other Precautions

  • If a container house is to be installed in a private yard (such as a yard on the first floor), an application for approval still needs to be submitted to the housing management department or urban management department to avoid being reported by neighbors or facing the risk of demolition due to lack of approval.
  • During the installation process, it is necessary to strictly follow technical specifications, such as foundation verification, structural connections, and waterproof sealing, to ensure the safety and durability of the house.
  • The approval process may vary slightly due to regional policy differences. It is recommended to consult local land, planning, urban management, and other departments in advance to obtain the latest requirements.
