Container House Foundation Construction
Admin September 15, 2026
The foundation construction of container houses requires specific plans based on the type of house, with core steps including site leveling, foundation treatment, installation and fixation, and detail optimization. The following are the specific construction key points:

1. Selection of Foundation Types
- Foldable/Fixed Container Houses: These have relatively low foundation requirements. They can be directly placed on a leveled ground surface. If conditions permit, pouring a cement floor and setting up drainage ditches can enhance living comfort.
- Packing-Box Container Houses: These have flexible foundation forms. They can use strip foundations, pier foundations, or even be placed directly on the ground without a dedicated foundation.
- Residential Portable Panel Houses: These require pouring a concrete foundation and fixing the house to the foundation with expansion screws. Such foundations cannot be reused during demolition.
- Long-term Outdoor Use Scenarios: It is recommended to use concrete piers or steel-frame reinforced foundations, combined with anti-corrosion wood exterior wall treatment, which can significantly improve wind and earthquake resistance. For example, a mobile guard post project in Guangzhou achieved installation by two people in half a day through bottom concrete piers and steel-frame reinforcement, without the need for large machinery.
2. Construction Process Specifications
- Surveying and Setting Out: Strictly check the wall foundation axis dimensions, with deviations controlled within ±25mm and wall height deviations not exceeding 10mm.
- Material Handling: Handle materials gently to avoid damage. After welding steel structures, conduct quality inspections.
- Foundation Construction: Select brick or concrete foundations based on site conditions, embed the chassis, and fix it with expansion screws.
- Steel Structure Assembly: Assemble square tube columns and steel beams according to drawing dimensions, ensuring all screws are tightened and the verticality and straightness of the steel beams meet requirements.
- Concealed Works: Focus on handling water and electricity installation, moisture and waterproofing, etc. For example, reserve drainage slopes on the roof and conduct waterproofing after window installation.
3. Handling of Special Scenarios
- Soft Soil Foundations: If the foundation bearing capacity is insufficient, reinforcement measures such as replacement, compaction, or pile foundations are required. For example, a project experienced house cracking due to its proximity to a paddy field and ultimately resolved the issue by removing the field ridges and reinforcing the foundation.
- Moisture-proof Treatment: The bottom of the container should be elevated to avoid direct contact with moisture. In humid southern regions, the anti-corrosion repainting cycle should be shortened to 7-10 years.
- Wind-resistant Design: For long-term outdoor use scenarios, reinforce the corners with steel frames and adjust the verticality of the steel beams using plumb lines.
