Types of Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

Container houses mainly come in the following forms:

1. Classification by Structure and Purpose

  • Container-style Office Buildings: Using standard containers as carriers, they are transformed into independent office units, commonly available in 20-foot and 40-foot sizes, and can be used individually or combined. Their advantages include sturdy structure and convenient transportation, making them suitable for project departments, construction site command centers, etc.
  • Foldable Office Buildings: Designed with a folding structure, they compress in volume during transportation and can be quickly expanded upon arrival, with a single set expansion time controlled within 30 minutes, suitable for exploration teams and temporary command posts that require frequent relocation.
  • Modular Office Buildings: Combining light steel keels with color steel plates, they are assembled on-site in a modular fashion and can be flexibly expanded according to the number of people and functional divisions, commonly seen in temporary offices in parks and event planning sites.
  • Expandable Office Buildings: Additional side or end expansion modules are added to the container, increasing the usable area by 30%-50% upon expansion, suitable for long-term on-site offices with higher space comfort requirements.
  • Customized Creative Office Buildings: Incorporating elements such as glass curtain walls, wood grain finishes, and irregular structures, they are used for brand displays, cultural and creative parks, high-end temporary offices, etc., balancing functionality and visual expression.

2. Classification by Structural Source and Construction Method

  • Custom Fixed Box Modules: Newly built according to ISO modulus, some use thinner plates or material substitutions, with non-standard corner fittings arrangements, and higher factory automation.
  • Variable Box Modules: Wall panels can be flipped, drawn out, or rotated (such as expandable shops, display boxes), generally used individually on a single level.
  • Integrally Welded (Dry Box Type): Formed into an integral structure through welding, with strong sealing and stability.
  • Light Steel Keel Type: Using light steel keels as the load-bearing structure, with walls filled with insulation materials, and flexible customization of appearance and layout.
  • Plug-in and Foldable Types: Achieving rapid assembly through plugging in or folding, facilitating transportation and storage.

3. Classification by Functional Purpose

  • Accommodation Type: Used for worker dormitories, temporary residences, etc.
  • Office Type: Used for project departments, temporary command centers, etc.
  • Commercial Service Type: Such as small shops, exhibition halls, guesthouse lobbies, etc.
  • Bathroom Type: Equipped with independent bathroom facilities to meet temporary living needs.
  • Special Type: Including medical boxes, equipment boxes, laboratory boxes, explosion-proof/refrigerated boxes, etc., to meet specific functional requirements.
