Container House Floor Wet

Admin September 15, 2026

The wet floor of a container house may be caused by reasons such as mopping with a wet mop, high ambient humidity, pipeline leakage, ground moisture return, construction defects, or improper daily use. Here is a detailed introduction and solutions:

Reasons

  • Mopping with a wet mop: When using a wet mop to clean the floor, moisture penetrates into the floor base layer, causing it to become damp and deform. For example, after the decoration of a new house, the cleaner used a wet mop, resulting in the floors of all four rooms bulging.
  • High ambient humidity: When the air humidity is too high, water vapor easily condenses on the floor surface, causing the floor to absorb moisture and expand. This problem is common in the plum rain season in the south or coastal areas. When the indoor humidity exceeds 70% for a long time, the floor is prone to dampness.
  • Pipeline leakage: Buried water pipes may break or have interface leakage, allowing water to penetrate under the floor. Leak points can be located by observing the water meter idling or using a stethoscope to detect the sound of water leakage.
  • Ground moisture return: During decoration, if the waterproof layer is not properly done or has aged and cracked, groundwater can penetrate through the capillary pores of the concrete. It is necessary to check the integrity of the waterproof layer. For local damage, a penetrating waterproof agent can be used for repair.
  • Construction defects or improper daily use: For example, insufficient expansion joints are reserved during floor installation, or the moisture is not wiped dry in a timely manner after daily cleaning.

Solutions

  • Ventilation and dehumidification: Keep the air circulating for 2 - 3 hours every day, and use an electric fan to accelerate the air circulation. On rainy days, use the dehumidification mode of the air conditioner as an auxiliary measure to control the humidity between 50% and 60%.
  • Check for leaks: Check whether there is leakage in the concealed works, focusing on the interfaces of the floor heating pipes, water supply pipes, and drainage pipes. If a pipeline problem is found, immediately close the valve. After professional repair, thoroughly dry the ground for more than 72 hours.
  • Use dehumidification equipment: For large-scale dampness, it is recommended to use a dehumidifier. For every 20 square meters, a model with a dehumidification capacity of 12L per day should be configured. Activated carbon bags are suitable for enclosed spaces such as cabinets, and quicklime can be used in dead corners such as under the bed.
  • Local repair: For slight bulging, press heavy objects to flatten it. For severe deformation, replace individual floor tiles. For the edge curling of composite floors, glass glue can be used for temporary fixation, and solid wood floors require professional grinding and refinishing.
