Container House Floor Tile Installation
Admin September 17, 2026
The common laying methods for floor tile installation in container houses are the dry-laying method and the wet-laying method. The specific operations and construction techniques are as follows:

Wet-laying Method
- Base Layer Treatment: Before construction, thoroughly clean the site and sprinkle an appropriate amount of water to moisten the ground, creating suitable conditions for subsequent construction.
- Mortar Preparation: Mix 325# cement and sand in a 1:3 ratio to make mortar. Strictly control the mortar strength to avoid exceeding 200#, as excessive strength can lead to uneven stress distribution later, damaging the decorative effect of the tiles and even causing quality issues.
- Mortar Laying: Use a wooden ruler approximately 1 meter long as a tool to evenly spread the mortar to a thickness of 25mm-35mm, then use layout lines to determine the tile-laying positions.
- Enhancing Adhesion: Sprinkle cement powder evenly on the construction ground, smooth it out, and then sprinkle a small amount of cement powder again. Increase the surface roughness to enhance the bonding strength between the tiles and the base layer.
Dry-laying Method
- Base Layer Moistening and Coating: After moistening the ground with water, apply a cement paste with a water-cement ratio of 1:0.4-0.5. Lay the dry-hard cement mortar leveling layer immediately after brushing to prevent the cement paste from drying out and becoming ineffective.
- Leveling Layer Requirements: Use a 1:3 dry-hard cement mortar. The surface should be flat, hard, and free of grease and impurities. If the base layer has sanding, pitting, or cracks, apply latex putty in multiple coats and sand it smooth. Finally, apply diluted latex solution to enhance adhesion.
- Adhesive Treatment: Before application, the base layer should be dry. For non-water-soluble adhesives, add 10% of No. 65 gasoline and 10% of ethyl acetate (or acetic ether) according to the product requirements and stir well. Water-soluble adhesives can be diluted directly with water. Control the application thickness to 2mm-3mm to ensure bonding effectiveness.
- Tile Laying: Tightly adhere the tiles to the base layer and use a level to correct the horizontal level, avoiding unevenness.
Construction Techniques
- Ceramic Tile Pretreatment: If ceramic floor tiles are selected, soak them in advance until they are air-dried to prevent water absorption after laying, which can cause hollowing.
- Mortar Fullness: When laying tiles, apply the cement mortar fully on the back of the tiles. After laying, tap them firmly with a rubber mallet and check and correct them with a level. Promptly wipe off any excess mortar on the surface.
- Grouting Treatment: After the tiles have been laid for 2-3 hours, use white cement to fill the gaps, ensuring the gaps are filled densely, smoothly, and evenly. Finally, clean the surface residues with cotton yarn.
