Container House Floor Replacement
Admin September 15, 2026
Replacing the floor of a container house requires comprehensive consideration of material selection, construction steps, and precautions. Here is a specific plan:

I. Floor Material Selection The floor of a container house needs to meet requirements for load-bearing capacity, moisture resistance, and fire resistance. Common materials include:
- Fiber Cement Board: It has excellent waterproof and fireproof properties, with a thickness of about 24mm, suitable for steel structure floors, and costs approximately 112 yuan per square meter (Zhaoqing Sanle Integrated Housing Manufacturing Co., Ltd.).
- Magnesium Oxide Fireproof Board: It is inorganic, high-temperature resistant, moisture-proof, environmentally friendly without formaldehyde, and has strong load-bearing capacity, costing about 22 yuan per square meter (Langfang Xiaoshuo Fireproof Materials Co., Ltd.).
- Wood-Plastic Composite Flooring: It is rot-proof and moisture-proof, suitable for outdoor areas or balconies, with a price range of 12.26-35 yuan per square meter (Guangzhou Haoye Composite Materials Co., Ltd., Guizhou Huxingyuan Wood Industry Co., Ltd.).
- Wood Plywood: It is a traditional baseboard for repairing and building containers, requiring moisture-proof treatment, and costs about 339 yuan per sheet (Tianjin Jinbin Huaxing Machinery Parts Co., Ltd.).
II. Construction Steps
- Removal of Old Floor:
- Remove the original floor and its fasteners (such as binding rings and D-shaped buckles), and check the structural integrity of the container floor.
- Repair any rusted or deformed parts of the floor to ensure flatness.
- Base Layer Treatment:
- Lay a moisture-proof membrane or apply a waterproof coating to prevent ground moisture from penetrating.
- If enhanced load-bearing capacity is required, install a light steel keel frame with a spacing of 40-60cm.
- Floor Installation:
- Fiber Cement Board/Magnesium Oxide Board: Fix them to the keels or container floor with self-tapping screws, and seal the joints with waterproof glue.
- Wood-Plastic Composite Flooring: If it is a floating installation, expansion joints need to be reserved; if it is a fixed installation, stainless steel screws need to penetrate the floor for fixation.
- Wood Plywood: Apply fireproof coating and reserve ventilation holes to avoid water accumulation.
- Edge Treatment:
- Use metal trim strips or floor strips of the same material to cover the edge gaps, ensuring aesthetics and dust prevention.
III. Precautions
- Fire Safety Regulations: If used for living, the floor needs to meet Class A fire safety standards (such as magnesium oxide board and fiber cement board).
- Environmental Protection: Avoid using materials containing formaldehyde and prioritize inorganic boards or environmentally friendly wood-plastic composites.
- Load-Bearing Design: Adjust the keel spacing or board thickness according to the usage scenario (such as stacking heavy objects).
- Ventilation Requirements: Reserve ventilation openings at the bottom of the container to prevent condensation under the floor.
IV. Cost Reference The material cost is approximately 80-339 yuan per square meter (excluding labor). Wood-plastic composite flooring offers good cost-effectiveness, while fiber cement board has the best overall performance.
