Container House Floor Repair
Admin September 16, 2026
Container house floor repair requires selecting the appropriate solution based on the type of damage, as detailed below:

I. Temporary Emergency Measures
For minor cracks or rust on the floor, temporary measures can be prioritized:
- Clean the damaged area: Use a wire brush to thoroughly remove rust, oil, and loose debris, ensuring the surface is dry and dust-free to provide a clean base for subsequent repairs.
- Fill the gaps: Use epoxy resin adhesive or metal repair compound to fill the cracks. After filling, allow it to set until fully cured (usually more than 24 hours) to avoid disturbance from external forces.
- Cover with a protective layer: Lay a moisture-proof pad or thin steel plate (thickness ≥ 2mm) over the repaired area to prevent crack expansion by distributing pressure, especially suitable for temporary load-bearing scenarios.
II. Structural Repair
If the floor exhibits extensive rust or structural damage, in-depth repair is required:
- Partial replacement: Cut out the damaged steel plate (extending beyond the rusted area by at least 10 cm) and weld a new plate of the same specifications. After welding, grind the welds and apply anti-rust treatment.
- Overall reinforcement: Install channel steel frames (e.g., 100mm × 50mm specifications) at the bottom, secured with bolts or welding, to enhance overall load-bearing capacity, suitable for long-term heavy-load scenarios.
- Anti-rust treatment: Apply a double-layer protection of anti-rust primer (e.g., epoxy zinc-rich paint) and topcoat (e.g., polyurethane paint), with a coating thickness of at least 120μm to ensure over 10 years of anti-rust effect.
III. Remedial Measures for Floor Subsidence
For subsidence caused by foundation settlement, comprehensive treatment of the foundation and container body is required:
- Foundation reinforcement: Excavate the soft soil layer in the subsided area and pour C20 concrete (thickness 15-20 cm, covering an area extending beyond the container edge by 30 cm), or temporarily use a 10mm thick steel plate at the bottom to distribute pressure.
- Adjust supports: Replace damaged pads with adjustable screw feet (each with a load capacity of ≥ 5 tons) and tighten the corner fitting bolts to 450-500 N·m using a torque wrench to ensure the container is level.
- Structural reinforcement: If the container body is deformed, add welded channel steel or H-shaped steel (e.g., 100mm × 50mm specifications) inside; for severe subsidence, use a 10-ton hydraulic jack to lift the container body while repairing the foundation.
- Improve drainage: Excavate drainage ditches (width ≥ 30 cm, slope 1%-2%) and lay a 0.5mm thick anti-seepage membrane to block groundwater and prevent repeated foundation settlement.
IV. Daily Maintenance and Prevention
- Inspect corners and weld points for rust monthly, and check the aging degree of waterproof sealant before the rainy season.
- Avoid long-term stacking of damp items and regularly clean mud and debris from the bottom to prevent corrosion accumulation.
- Prioritize hardened ground for site selection (concrete foundation costs 200-300 yuan/㎡ with a lifespan of 20 years) and place heavy items against the wall to distribute the load.
Precautions: If subsidence exceeds 5 cm or the container body is twisted or cracked, cease use immediately and contact professionals. Forced repairs may lead to collapse risks.
