Container House Floor Installation
Admin September 15, 2026
The installation of the floor in a container house should follow the following steps and key points:

I. Foundation Preparation and Bottom Frame Installation
- Ground Treatment: Select the foundation type based on the container type. Foldable container houses and fixed residential container houses only require leveling the ground. If possible, pour a cement floor and set up drainage ditches. Packing-box container houses can have strip or蹲型 (this term might need further clarification in a real-world context, here we assume it's a specific type of foundation) foundations, or even be placed directly on the ground. Residential prefabricated temporary buildings need to pour a concrete foundation and secure it with expansion screws.
- Bottom Frame Assembly: On a level ground or workbench, connect the bottom corners of the container to the bottom beams using hexagon socket bolts, temporarily not tightening them. Adjust the diagonal difference of the bottom frame to be ≤3mm, and then tighten the bolts to ensure the structure is square.
II. Secondary Beam and Base Plate Installation
- π-Type Secondary Beam Installation: Install the π-type secondary beams according to the positioning holes on the long beams, secure them with M5.5×19 self-tapping screws, and reinforce them twice at the top of the secondary beams and bottom beams with ST4.8×16 round-head self-drilling screws.
- Floor Base Plate Treatment: Lay the magnesium oxide board base plates along the 6-meter direction. The pre-punched base plates at both ends need to be cut at an angle according to the chalk line to fit the container structure. Mark at the centerline of the π-type beams to provide a reference for subsequent floor positioning.
III. Floor Installation and Fixing
- Floor Assembly: Start laying the floor from one end, ensuring that the joints align with the centerline of the π-type beams. After laying, snap a chalk line along the centerline mark (two chalk lines are required at the joints, each deviating 20mm from the centerline), and fix it with ST4.2×38 cross-recessed flat-head self-tapping screws, with a nail spacing of 300-350mm.
- Special Material Application: Some projects use checkered aluminum plates as the floor. Their non-slip properties are suitable for bathrooms or high-humidity environments. The material should be selected according to design requirements and installed flatly.
IV. Final Treatment and Inspection
- Sanding and Sealing: Sand the entire floor, focusing on the joints. Apply PVC special floor adhesive, wait 10-15 minutes, then lay the floor covering, and remove air to avoid bulging. If possible, weld the joints of the floor covering to enhance waterproofing.
- Quality Inspection: Confirm that the floor joints are tight and firmly fixed, with no looseness or warping. Check the flatness and sealing of the floor covering to ensure it meets waterproof and fireproof specifications.
