Dampness on the Floor of Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

Dampness on the floor of container houses can be addressed by selecting moisture-proof flooring, using desiccants, improving ventilation, laying moisture-proof pads, and other measures.

  1. Select Moisture-Proof Flooring
Use moisture-proof and fire-resistant flooring specifically designed for container houses, such as fiberglass fire-resistant boards. These boards offer excellent water resistance, do not deform, soften, mold, or rot due to moisture, steam, or humid environments, and possess A1-level non-combustibility with a fire-resistant temperature range of 1000-2000℃, effectively blocking moisture penetration.

  2. Use Desiccants
Place desiccants inside the container, especially in high-humidity environments (such as during the rainy season). Check the moisture level of the container's wooden floor; if the humidity exceeds 20%, increase the amount of desiccant used. For example, a 20-foot container is recommended to use 4-6 desiccant strips, while a 40-foot high-cube container requires 14 strips. For goods with high moisture content (such as textiles and wooden pallets), additional desiccants are needed.

  3. Improve Ventilation and Sealing
Close all ventilation holes in the container to reduce the entry of humid outside air. If there are holes or cracks in the container, repair them promptly to prevent water vapor accumulation. Ensure that the container doors are well-sealed to prevent rainwater infiltration during transportation or storage.

  4. Lay Moisture-Proof Pads
Lay grid-patterned plastic moisture-proof pads on the floor. The suspended structure at the bottom promotes air circulation, preventing moisture from being trapped between the floor and the goods. These pads have anti-slip patterns on their surface, can withstand forklift operations, and elevate the goods 5 centimeters above the ground to avoid ground moisture. During cleaning, dust and moisture can directly drain through the grid holes, keeping the floor dry.

  5. Regular Maintenance and Inspection
Regularly remove rust and repaint the steel components of the container to prevent corrosion-induced structural damage. If the floor is made of metal, check the sealing of the welds to prevent moisture from infiltrating through gaps. For containers stored for long periods, regularly open the doors for ventilation to reduce internal humidity.
