Flood Control Requirements for Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
Container houses must meet the following flood control requirements:

Structural Stability and Reinforcement
- Inspect structural stability: Check the structural stability of container houses, focusing on whether the connections between box components are secure. Reinforce or replace any loose or damaged parts promptly to ensure the overall structure can withstand external forces such as wind and rain during the flood season, preventing collapse or damage due to structural issues.
- Clear surrounding debris: Remove scattered outdoor debris and waste wood around container houses to prevent these items from being blown up in strong winds, causing impact or damage to the houses. This also facilitates smooth drainage and avoids waterlogging that could damage the house foundations.
Flood Prevention and Drainage
- Elevate or relocate materials: If container houses store materials susceptible to water damage, such as cardboard and cotton yarn, elevate them or move them to higher places like shelves or waterproof platforms to prevent inundation from internal flooding. When placed indoors, they should be at least 0.5 meters away from doors and windows to reduce the risk of rainwater splashing in.
- Ensure drainage is unobstructed: Check whether the drainage ditches around the houses are clear and promptly remove debris from the drainage ditches and roof drainage channels of buildings to ensure rapid drainage of rainwater and prevent water damage to house foundations and walls.
Wind Prevention Measures
- Reinforce the box body: Before the arrival of typhoons and other strong winds, reinforce the box body of container houses by adding supports or guy wires to improve their wind resistance and prevent them from being blown or overturned by strong winds.
- Prohibit overnight stays: During typhoons, strictly prohibit people from staying overnight in container houses to ensure their safety. People should be promptly transferred to safe and reliable shelters.
