Container House Drawing Size

Admin September 15, 2026

The drawing sizes of container houses vary depending on the type and design requirements. Common specifications include standard container sizes (such as 20-foot and 40-foot) and the flexible size system of modular buildings like Apple Pods.

Standard Container House Sizes

Standard container houses are modified based on internationally recognized 20-foot and 40-foot containers. Their external and internal net dimensions are as follows:

  • 20-foot container: The external dimensions are approximately 6055mm in length, 2435mm in width, and 2591mm in height (in packaging state) or 2790mm (after assembly). The internal net dimensions are 5860mm in length, 2240mm in width, and 2500mm in height, with an area of about 12.98 square meters.
  • 40-foot container: The external dimensions are 12192mm in length, 2435mm in width, and 2591mm in height (in packaging state) or 2790mm (after assembly). The internal net dimensions are 11980mm in length, 2240mm in width, and 2500mm in height, with an area of about 25.96 square meters. Such container houses are commonly used in commercial spaces, temporary offices, or residential scenarios. The modification drawings need to clearly mark the positions of doors and windows, structural reinforcement nodes, and the layout of water and electricity.

Modular Container House Sizes

Modular buildings represented by Apple Pods use prefabricated assembled boxes, with a more flexible size system:

  • Domestic trade regular size: 3 meters × 6 meters, with an area of 18 square meters, suitable for single-room homestays or small office spaces.
  • Foreign trade size range: Extending from 5.8 meters × 2.2 meters to 11.5 meters × 2.2 meters, corresponding to 20-foot and 40-foot models, with areas of about 12.98 square meters and 25.96 square meters respectively.
  • Customized options: The standard width is 3 meters, and the length can be selected as 3 meters, 6 meters, 9 meters, or 12 meters. Multiple pods can be arranged in combination or stacked to form multi-functional spaces. The design drawings for such buildings need to include details such as the curved roof shape, metal integrated wall panel structure, and internal space zoning.

Special Scenario Container House Sizes

  • Rural self-built houses: The common size is a width of 12 meters and a depth of 4.9 meters, formed by splicing two containers to create a layout of two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom.
  • Creative spaces: For example, a dreamy small house modified from a 20-foot container optimizes space utilization to plan a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom within less than 30 square meters. The drawings need to mark personalized designs such as skylights and balconies.
