Container House Drainage System Installation

Admin September 17, 2026

The installation of drainage systems in container houses should incorporate modular characteristics, utilizing standardized design and concealed layouts to ensure efficient and durable drainage. The specific plan is as follows:

I. Design Principles for Drainage Systems

  1. Same-Floor Drainage: Bottom-floor drainage branches converge under the floor to the main drainage horizontal pipe, maintaining a slope of ≥2% before connecting to the main drainage vertical pipe or outdoor septic tank/municipal sewer network. This design reduces pipe penetration through floors, lowering the risk of leakage.
  2. Second-Floor Interlayer Drainage: The main drainage horizontal and vertical pipes on the second floor are arranged within the ceiling space of the bottom floor, preventing exposed pipes from affecting aesthetics and facilitating later maintenance.
  3. Independent Rainwater Discharge: Roof rainwater is collected through downspouts and discharged to the ground drainage system via dedicated rainwater pipes, avoiding mixing with sewage pipes.

II. Pipe Materials and Construction Requirements

  1. Material Selection: PVC-U pipes are preferred for drainage pipes due to their corrosion resistance and tight connections. Pipe fittings must match in size (e.g., De50, De75), and quality certification documents should be checked.
  2. Ventilation and Odor Prevention: Each main drainage vertical pipe must be equipped with a vent cap at the top to balance air pressure and prevent water seal breakage. Drainage fixtures (floor drains, sinks, etc.) must have P-type or S-type traps installed below to form a water seal and block odors.
  3. Slope Control: Drainage horizontal pipes must be constructed according to the design slope (≥2%) to ensure smooth sewage discharge and prevent water accumulation or backflow.

III. Key Construction Steps

  1. Technical Preparation: Familiarize yourself with the construction drawings, clarify pipe routing, pipe diameter, and slope requirements, and prepare technical disclosure documents.
  2. Material Preparation: Purchase UPVC drainage plastic pipes and matching fittings according to design requirements, checking for no cracks in appearance and intact sealing rings.
  3. On-Site Construction:
    • Clear the construction area to ensure a flat ground;
    • Install drainage horizontal and vertical pipes according to the design slope, with second-floor pipes concealed within the bottom-floor ceiling;
    • Securely fix roof rainwater pipes to prevent detachment in windy weather.

IV. Maintenance and Optimization Measures

  1. Regular Cleaning: Inspect drainage pipes quarterly and clean debris (such as hair, food residue) to prevent blockages.
  2. Sumps for Assistance: Install sumps in low-lying areas and connect them to drainage pumps to enhance drainage capacity.
  3. Freeze Protection: In extreme weather or at mountain peak locations, wrap exposed pipes with rubber-plastic insulation cotton to prevent freezing and cracking; briefly open faucets in winter to maintain water flow and prevent icing.

Through standardized design, concealed layouts, and regular maintenance, the drainage system of container houses can achieve efficient and durable operation, meeting long-term usage needs.
